Team Limpopo won gold in SA Woodroffe Cup team events in the B Section beating SANDF, SAPS, NGBA and KZN. The team consisted of Japie van Heerden (Captain), Navees Muhammed, Floris van Wyk, Chris Loretz, Zara Varghese, Hannelize van der Westhuizen, Charmaine de Waal (Manager) and Elsabe Wilson.
The following players were ranked in their respective sections:

Japie van Heerden : No 2
Zara Varghese : No 1
Hannelize van der Westhuizen : No 5
Charmaine de Waal got the award for the Best Manager.

Badminton South Africa is offering provinces a Shuttle Time course provided that they have numbers. Each province will receive a free school set of equipment (while stocks last) if a course is run in that province. All members and teachers are welcome and will be provided with resources including a Teachers’ Manual, 22 Lesson Plans and 92 Video Clips. As this is a basic badminton course we encourage members no matter your skill level to sign-up!

WHAT IS SHUTTLE TIME?

In 2012, BWF — Badminton World Federation launched BWF Shuttle Time to the world. A badminton programme supporting the principle that children should lead a healthy and active life, both in and out of school. BWF’s goal is to make badminton one of the world’s most popular and accessible school sports.

Shuttle Time activities have been designed to suit a range of teaching situations and environments. Shuttle Time can be delivered inside and outside, in large and small spaces and with or without badminton courts.

Shuttle Time lessons are designed to provide children with a positive image of badminton through many opportunities to have fun, engage with others and experience success.

The activities are easily adaptable and can be delivered to large groups simultaneously, making it an ideal school sport.

Benefits of delivering badminton to children include:
Boys and girls of all ages can participate.
Non-contact, low impact sport.
Badminton offers opportunities for pupils to experience individual and team based activities.
Can be played indoors and outdoors.
Can be delivered to large groups of pupils in areas with limited space.
Inclusive sport - children with a physical or intellectual disability can actively participate in badminton.
