I WANT MY TURN NOW! ‼️🥴 https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSxc6r3cR/
Understanding that it is somebody else’s turn can be a struggle. The ongoing benefit of visuals is a game changer in these situations.
Use a photo of each student in your class or in your therapy space. Each child will see a photo of themselves if it is their turn. This will also help them to understand when it is not their turn, by seeing another child’s photograph held up.
Using a now and then baseboard can also support:
Now: it is Ben’s turn
Then: it is my turn

A spectrum in definition, is a collection of gradients (a gradient is dark to light- shown in each bubble), not simply a collection of plain colours.
🔴In application to this visual, the gradient is representative of the lightness or heaviness of support needed in each area. Light colour = light/lower needs & lighter support. Heavy colour= heavy/ high needs & support needed.
🟠Imagine a sliding toggle inside each gradient, (represented by the text) which can move between dark & light areas. Each Neurodivergent individual’s toggle may be at a different position in each gradient. The toggle slides with time, growth and support provided.
🟡The large gradient bubble in the centre could be interchanged with any gradient around the sides, depending on which aspect of Neurodivergence the individual identifies as their area of highest support.
🟢 Each Neurodivergent person may not have a toggle inside every bubble, according to their profile. For example, in some individuals, Tourette’s or DCD may be absent.
🔵 This visual is not all encompassing or totally comprehensive, and each individual is different and unique in many significant ways.
🟣The gradient bubbles overlap and are also dynamic in nature, meaning that they can overlap more or less in each individual
Adding new personal vocabulary into folders for my students! 🔥❤️🥰
🔥‼️Listening with intention🔥‼️this is a significant and common barrier to learning for our children who are Neuro divergent, autistic, or ADHD. When language isn’t motivating yet, step back and use environmental sounds, that might be familiar to them, to support and facilitate the awareness of sounds around them, building the stairway to listening with intention.
HOW DO I GET MY CHILD TO ASK TO GO TO THE TOILET? This is a LOADED question 🤣. In both senses of the word. 1) Toilet Routine 2) Use all methods of asking for the toilet and demonstrate this 3) Create the association between toilet and nappy changing/ using the toilet 4) potty training 5) OT 🙌🏻🔥‼️

Such an important reminder. Drop a 💙 in the comments and share this to help spread the word.
🔥🔥 What are CORE WORDS? Have you heard of this term? is why they are relevant and important: 🙌🏻 core words are powerful because they are well- used with high frequency in the English Language: you, me, is, have, want, do, can, not, more, it, that, go, stop, help etc. These words are FUNCTIONAL and empowering because we know that they will be USED if they are LEARNT. So teach core as your centre in motivating activities and and fringe words for funsies ❤️🌈
