On Monday, to draw attention to Youth Day, we held an assembly sharing in the history and significance of why we commemorate June 16 in South Africa. And our staff members donned school uniform, while Members wore jeans and their IS shirts.

Grateful for the bravery of those students 50 years ago and the changes that their sacrifices brought. We do not take it for granted.

Prayers are with our school community and Andile Mabaso’s family as we celebrate her life and acknowledge our sadness, during a memorial service that will be held for her today.

‘The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.’

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our Grade 11 Member, Andile Mabaso, who passed away unexpectedly this weekend.

Andile was a confident and kind young woman. She will be remembered as a respectful and well-mannered student who got on well with staff and fellow Members alike.

With a strong commitment to her studies, Andile excelled academically. She approached her work with maturity and diligence, and her teachers speak highly of her consistent effort and thoughtful contributions in class.

Beyond the classroom, Andile participated in a wide range of sports and extra-mural activities, including tennis, basketball, soccer, fitness, and debate. However, it was hockey that held a special place in her heart, and she pursued it with great enthusiasm.

Andile’s passing is a great loss to our school community, and she will be deeply missed by staff and Members alike.

We extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers for comfort to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

Rest in perfect peace, Andile.

Last Friday our school participated in Reach for a Dream’s fundraiser.

We shared a picture of our staff donning their fancy footwear, but we thought you’d like to see that the Members joined in too!

Thank you to the SD committee for arranging this event which was not only fun, but for a good purpose.
