Even during play obedience is important.

Imagine if Sam tried to grab the stick when I try to kick it. I would probably lose my foot to those teeth!😂
It may seem insignificant to many but just having good clear communication and discipline with your dog, makes playing with a stick on walk more fun!
Side note, if you were a stranger with bad intentions, that bark would scare you off!!

Why is obedience so important?

This is why....
To keep everyone happy, free and safe. Being able to verbally control your dog is the most important key for freedom!

For clarity, this isn't how Sam has always been, he is a killer, the list is long of creatures hes killed including cats, monkeys, a legavaan, many birds, rats and more
So this level of Control for him has taken alot of time and effort to get right. And for me it was worth the effort.

He has more freedom
I have more freedom
The wildlife is safe
And so am I because I can take him anywhere.

Sometimes a peaceful walk is more impressive than fancy heelwork for Instagram reels😉

I dont know about you, but,
Knowing your dog will come back when you call them
And knowing they won't chase wildlife is what I really want in a dog.

Most dogs don’t “snap out of nowhere.”

Usually it’s pressure stacking quietly over time.
They've had bad sleep, a particulalry intense training session, a cat ran past the car on the way home, jackal were screaming all evening.

Then one small thing happens…
…and the dog finally explodes.

This is called trigger stacking.
And once you understand it, a lot of “random” behaviour suddenly makes sense.
