I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my patients who became family; ventured with me; became part of my humble dream, and made AgeRēwind one of my greatest achievements.

Reflecting on our last 8 years as a family in Hermanus, I have realised the days were filled with a multitude of blessings including this “One-Woman-Aesthetic Practice”.
My business was by no means perfectly run, but I was blessed with full morning-schedules, love and support.

I stayed way too long in the industry;
My priorities have been slowly ticking (even more so) towards my family; even though they have always come first.

Mainly I wish for a private, slow and simple life.

The field of aesthetics has positive aspects, but at times also a field that I do not want to be associated with.

I praise God for strong men in my life who kept my perspective in the right direction.
Please do not become desensitised to this warped concept of medicine.

Special thanks to my dearest, dearest friend, Natalie Hauman, who was and always will be the practice “muse”.

Let’s talk about your healing journey post lip-augmentation with dermal filler.

Healing after lip filler injections typically follows a predictable timeline. Here’s what to expect during each stage:

1. Immediate Post-Treatment (0-24 Hours)
• Symptoms: Swelling, tenderness, and possible redness around the injection sites.
• Tips:
• Apply a cold compress (gently) to reduce swelling.
• Avoid touching or massaging the lips unless instructed by your provider.
• Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol, as it can exacerbate swelling.

2. Early Healing (1-3 Days)
• Swelling peaks during the first 48 hours.
• Bruising may appear, ranging from mild to moderate.
• Lips might feel firm or lumpy as the filler settles.
• Tips:
• Continue with cold compresses if needed.
• Use arnica oil or take a Paracetamol
• Avoid strenuous exercise, sun exposure, and extreme heat.

3. Mid-Healing (4-7 Days)
• Swelling begins to subside.
• Bruising fades but may still be visible in some areas.
• Lips feel more natural but may still have minor lumps or asymmetry.
• Tips:
• Lightly massage lumps only if instructed by your injector.
• Continue to avoid high-pressure activities on the lips, such as puckering or biting.

4. Final Healing (2-4 Weeks)
• Swelling and bruising are completely gone.
• The filler integrates fully into the tissue, and the lips feel soft and natural.
• Any residual asymmetry or unevenness can now be assessed accurately.
• Tips:
• If there are concerns about results, schedule a follow-up appointment with your provider.
Most people see their final results within 2-4 weeks.

❓Client question:

Can I use facial cups after getting facial filler?

It’s generally recommended to avoid using facial cups immediately after getting facial fillers.

Here’s why:

- Risk of Displacement: Facial fillers are strategically placed to enhance specific areas of the face. Cupping can apply suction and pressure that might move the filler from its intended spot.
- Healing Time: After fillers, your skin and tissues need time to settle and heal. Cupping too soon can cause bruising or affect the filler’s effectiveness.
- Wait Time: It’s best to wait at least 2-4 weeks after getting fillers before using facial cups. This allows the fillers to integrate properly and minimizes any risks.

Always consult your aesthetician or medical aesthetician about when it’s safe to resume facial cupping or other skincare routines post-fillers.
