Men's Mental Health Awareness Month: Grief Deserves a Voice 💙
This month, as we raise awareness about men's mental health, let us also take a moment to acknowledge grief.
Grief is not only the pain of losing a loved one. It can be the loss of a friend, a father, a brother, a son, a dream, a relationship, or the life we once knew.
For many men, grief is carried silently.
Some continue to show up for work.
Some continue to smile.
Some continue to support everyone around them.
Yet behind that strength may be a heart carrying unimaginable pain.
Today, we remember the men who lost their battle with mental illness. We honor their lives, their struggles, and the courage it took to keep fighting for as long as they did.
We also hold space for the families, friends, and loved ones left behind. The grief that follows such a loss can be overwhelming and long-lasting. There are often unanswered questions, deep sadness, and moments when the pain feels impossible to put into words.
If you are grieving today, please know that your grief matters.
There is no timeline for healing.
There is no right or wrong way to mourn.
And you do not have to carry your pain alone.
Let us be kinder to one another.
Let us check in on the men in our lives.
Let us create spaces where grief can be spoken about without shame and where seeking help is seen as strength, not weakness.
To those we have lost, we remember you.
To those who are grieving, we stand with you.
And to every man struggling in silence, your life matters, your pain is valid, and help is available.
💙
🌺If somebody is sleeping all day, withdrawing from everyone, losing interest in things they once enjoyed, barely eating or sleeping properly, and constantly responding to life with an "it is what it is" attitude, don't ignore it.
Sometimes those are not signs of laziness, weakness, or a bad mood.
Sometimes they are signs that someone is struggling.
Depression is real.
Anxiety is real.
And both can affect every part of a person's life.
The hardest part is that many people suffering do not always talk about it. They may smile, show up, and tell everyone they're fine while fighting battles nobody can see.
You never truly know what someone is carrying behind closed doors.
A little kindness matters.
A simple check-in matters.
Listening matters.
Be gentle with people.
Some are doing their best just to make it through the day. ❤️🫂
