Did you know Fynbos plants, such as proteas, need fire!
Fire stimulates them to release their seeds which then germinate.
In the following spring, after the fire, seeds germinate, mature and flower again.
I'd like to think we are also like fynbos plants, able to bloom after the fire.

Find what fuels the fire within you and you won't struggle to be motivated.
For me it's definitely time in nature, running and hiking!

Not feeling motivated to go work out?
Here are some tricks that help me:
1. Try something new and different - sometimes a change from the mundane is motivation enough! Saw a boxing gym near your home? Go try a class. Have a trampoline in the garden for the kids? Go jump!
2. Phone a friend - having someone you enjoy hanging out with can make workouts fly by
3. Play that song! - we all have a song that we can't help but move our body to. Pump it up and get moving
4. Cut the workout session's length - don't feel like working out 30 min but can handle a 15 min session? Great! Do that quick workout!
5. Give yourself a goal - sometimes all we need is a goal to work towards to get us mentally back in the game!

Eating to fuel my body and not feed my emotions has been something I have had to be very mindful of
I notice, especially after lockdowb and moving to a new hometown away from everything & everyone, that I often turn to food to fill a hole and not because I am actually feeling hungry
Common signs of emotional eating are:
Changes in your eating habits when you have more stress in your life.
Eating when you are not hungry or when you are full.
Eating to avoid dealing with a stressful situation.
Eating to soothe your feelings.
Using food as a reward.
Ask yourself are you hungry or are your emotions "hungry"?

What is a fitness hack that you only recently learnt that has changed your life?
I'll go first.
Calorie tracking your intake? Tare the jar or item you want to measure out and then as you scoop the amount from the jar the negative amount will show the weight.
So much easier and less messy!

Goal hack: Set secondary goals!
We often forget that in order to achieve our main goals, it is necessary and helpful to set smaller/ secondary goals
Want to get up 5am but you are use to only getting up 7am (on a good day)?
Start by getting up 30 minutes earlier for a 2 to 3 weeks until your body has adjusted. Keep doing this until you are at the time you wanted!
