Our company have implemented a phased cycle of training and promotion from within the existing personnel together with actual shareholding within the company in recognition of the aspirations and development of previously disadvantaged individuals. Although still in its embryonic stage we have already achieved progress in identifying and placing a number of employees in independent roles thus enabling individuals to attain
multi-disciplined tasking with the attendant development of their less skilled colleagues. In order to achieve this forgoing, specific aims and directives have been embedded in the company’s structure to place a direct emphasis on individual growth as well as team building objectives. Promotion from within is ideally suited to our particular industry as there are not any readily identifiable training schemes or active skilled labour pool from which to draw. While at a recent industry meeting there was motion tabled by member companies to investigate the primary needs of the industry with regard to training 7 enhancements of standards of workmanship, which are pivotal to ensuring sustained growth for all.
