Spring is here, the days are getting warmer, and the braai is calling! But before you fire it up, there’s something important to remember especially with the elevated veld-fire warning for the Garden Route.

A beautiful Garapa deck is made for outdoor living, good company and memorable braais. But dry leaves, nearby vegetation and a few wind-blown sparks can turn a relaxing afternoon into a dangerous situation far too quickly.

Before you light the braai:
✅ Clear dry leaves and vegetation from around your deck and home.
✅ Check the area beneath and around the braai.
✅ Keep an eye on flying sparks and changing wind conditions.
✅ Never leave a lit braai unattended.
✅ When you’re done, make absolutely sure the fire is completely extinguished.

A little preparation goes a long way in protecting your home, your deck and the beautiful Garden Route we all love.

Enjoy the deck. Respect the fire. Because the only thing that should be spreading at your braai is the smell of boerewors!

At some point, the deck stops being an outdoor space and quietly becomes the most popular room in the house.

It starts with a few chairs and a braai, then suddenly there’s a dining table, drinks, family, friends and somehow 14 people when you only planned for six.

A thoughtfully designed deck gives you the space to bring it all together from relaxed morning coffees to long lunches and those legendary Saturday braais that somehow stretch well into the evening.

Add built-in seating, a stylish pergola for shade and a layout designed around how you actually use your home, and your outdoor area becomes a true extension of your living space.

Because a great deck isn’t just somewhere to stand.

It’s where the good times tend to gather.

Everyone’s talking about what to put outside this weekend. But maybe we should talk about what you’re putting it ON.

The kykNET Buite Ekspo is in Hartenbos from 25–27 September, and if there’s one thing South Africans understand, it’s outdoor living.
The braai.
The comfortable chairs.
The cold drinks.
The friends who were only popping in for an hour… and are somehow still there six hours later. 😄

But a great outdoor space isn’t really about all the stuff you put into it. It’s about creating a place where people want to spend time.

Morning coffee. Long lunches. Summer evenings. Family, friends and plenty of stories.

And sometimes, it all starts with what’s under your feet.

A pergola can define an outdoor space, create shade and give a deck a stronger architectural presence.

It can turn a simple outdoor area into somewhere that feels deliberately designed. Whether you're creating a relaxed lounge, dining area or entertainment space.

And let's not forget its most important function:

Giving you somewhere to stand dramatically with your coffee while pretending you're starring in a home renovation show.

Sometimes the front of a house needs more than a coat of paint.

Architectural timber features can completely change the character of a property especially when strong beams, pergolas, balcony details and balustrades are designed to work together.

Garapa is particularly striking when used to create bold structural features that complement modern architecture while bringing warmth and natural texture into the design.

The result? The house doesn't just have an entrance. It has an arrival.

You don't necessarily need a plane ticket to feel like you're away for the weekend.

A well-designed deck, boardwalk or outdoor entertainment area can completely change the way you experience your own property. Add comfortable seating, natural materials, thoughtful landscaping and a beautiful view, and suddenly your backyard starts competing with your favourite holiday destination.

The best part? No airport queues. No packing. No lost luggage. Just walk outside.

Not every tired-looking deck needs to be demolished and forgotten. Sometimes it needs a little professional attention.

Deck restoration can breathe new life into timber that has faded, weathered or lost its original character. Cleaning, repairs, sanding and refinishing can dramatically change the appearance of an outdoor space.

It's basically the decking equivalent of a proper spa day. And unlike your average spa treatment, this one can leave your outdoor space looking ready for another few years of entertaining.

That unused patch of garden has potential it just needs the right person to see it
A custom timber or composite deck can turn an overlooked area into an outdoor room for morning coffee, lazy afternoons, entertaining and everything in between.
The best part?

You don't need to build an enormous structure to make a big difference. Sometimes a cleverly designed deck in the right spot is all it takes.

And suddenly the place where you used to store the garden hose becomes the most fought-over seat in the house.

It starts innocently. “Let's just improve this one little area.” Then comes the deck. Then the pergola. Then the seating. Then the screening. Then suddenly you're standing outside thinking, “Why didn't we do this years ago?”

The beauty of a well-planned outdoor space is that different elements can work together decking, pergolas, privacy screens, seating, walkways and cladding can all be designed to complement one another.

The result isn't just a collection of individual features. It's an outdoor space that actually feels like it belongs together. And yes, we fully support the phrase “while we're at it.”
