CHECKERS STRUGGLES TO KEEP LOCAL DRIVERS
Checkers Sixty60 has grown its team of South African riders, but many are quitting twice as fast as their foreign counterparts.
Shopriteβs delivery platform, which now works with over 7,000 drivers through its logistics arm Pingo, still relies heavily on migrant workers to meet its 60-minute delivery target.
Locals often leave due to low take-home pay and safety risks on busy roads.
Despite offering training, insurance, and fair wages, retention remains a problem.
Shoprite says itβs improving conditions and incentives to attract more South Africans to its expanding delivery network.
