Getting some HO 15F patterns ready for brass castings. The holes in the firebox are for fitting brass and stainless washout plugs after painting of the firebox and boiler. The cylinders also get stainless end convers, and brass baypass fittings, and finally stainless cladding in 0.1mm sheet:

The EW tender bogie castings of the SAR/SAS Class 23, later used on the Class 15F, carry various cast-in markings. One of them is the small angled “43”. Its meaning is unclear to me, but it’s on the prototype — so it’s on the 1:87 scale model too:
