What if the hotel came to the site, rather than the site having to accommodate the hotel?

We’ve been exploring what a micro-resort built around xPod could look like.

A collection of X30, X50 and X70 units, positioned individually around the landscape, responding to views, privacy and topography rather than forcing a conventional hotel footprint onto the site.

Minimal earthworks. A lighter touch on the land. Units manufactured off-site and installed with significantly less disruption to the environment around them.

And importantly, it doesn’t need to start with 30 or 40 keys.

Start with six. Add another four. Grow as demand grows.

For us, that’s where xPod becomes particularly interesting for hospitality, not simply as an alternative way to construct a hotel room, but as a different way of thinking about how a destination can be developed.

SPACES BUILT DIFFERENTLY.

Our latest Xpod installation is now up and running for Seattle Coffee Co. in East London.

It’s a relatively small building, but a great example of what can be achieved when design, material and construction methodology are considered together from the outset.

The distinctive Xpod form gives the building its architectural identity, while the BioBuild building system provides the high-performance envelope behind it, manufactured using recycled wood waste with concrete and designed around a faster, more efficient approach to construction.

Much of the building is manufactured off-site before being assembled and completed on site, reducing programme, disruption and waste without compromising on the finished product.

The result is a compact commercial space that feels permanent, considered and completely specific to its purpose.

This project mattered because we didn’t start with a pre-defined solution.

Instead, the xPod Design unit was built around the brand, operations, and presence, delivered through BioBuild (Pty) Ltd (Pty) with a lighter footprint and more deliberate use of materials

LuxuryLiving xPod BioBuild

This is an exciting one.

At the The Racquets Facility, we’re reworking the precinct as a layered, multifunctional environment rather than a single building solution.

The restaurant / deli and office component will be delivered through an X100 unit, paired with an engineered mezzanine roof that expresses our building methodology, creating elevated spaces that open up long views across the site and courts below.

Alongside this, the existing building is being upgraded and repurposed into a co-working environment, allowing old and new to work together rather than compete.

What I like about this project is the balance:
lightweight intervention, considered structure, and spaces that respond to how people actually use the facility, not just how it looks on plan

This barn-style adaptation features a custom retractable roof over a dedicated stargazing zone, allowing guests to connect directly with the cosmos in comfort and style.

Inside, a thoughtfully enclosed space includes a built-in bar and coffee station. Beyond that, the retractable area houses a permanent telescope installation, integrated storage, and all the infrastructure needed for an effortless guest experience.

The pod then extends onto a private outdoor deck, complete with a fire pit and relaxed seating — the ideal setting for slow evenings spent under the stars.
