Ever wondered why a bank's response changes when an attorney gets involved?
It often comes down to process.
When you contact a bank directly, your matter is usually handled through customer service channels. When an attorney acts on your behalf, communication takes place through formal legal processes and may be directed to the bank's legal department.
That is why legal representation can make a meaningful difference when dealing with debt-related matters and credit providers.
Understanding your options is the first step towards making informed financial decisions.

If you have paid off your debt but your credit profile still shows a debt review status, you are not alone and you are not stuck.
Here is what most people do not know: settling your debt and legally clearing your debt review status are two completely separate things.
Your debt counsellor is legally required to issue what is called a Form 19, or Clearance Certificate, within seven days of your final settlement. That document is what tells the credit bureaus to remove the flag. Without it, the flag stays regardless of what you have paid.
If your debt counsellor has gone silent, or has not issued the certificate, VHT knows exactly what your next step is.

Did you know that writing to your credit bureau to remove a judgement is not the same as a court ordering it to be removed?
A request relies on a voluntary response, but a High Court Rescission is a judicial instruction. The credit bureau is legally mandated to comply with a court order, meaning they have no choice but to clear your record once it is granted.
To succeed, you must be able to prove to the court that you were not in wilful default, that you have a valid defence, and that you acted promptly.
This is not a process you navigate alone. VHT manages the full court process from start to finish on your behalf, removing the guesswork and the constant chasing.

Here's something most South Africans get wrong about fixed-term contracts. Your contract label doesn't necessarily determine your legal rights. Section 198B, disguised permanence, renewal traps... there's a lot employers and employees overlook.
We've written a full breakdown of what you actually need to know. Head to the comments for the link.

The difference between fixed-term and permanent employment is often understood as a simple label on a contract.
However, in practice, the distinction is based on how the employment relationship is structured and continues over time.
This visual explains the basic difference in a clear and accessible way.
If you are unsure how your contract is classified, it is worth seeking clarity before assumptions create problems later.
