The road from Perth to Kalgoorlie is more than 600 kilometres long, stretching through the vast landscapes that have shaped Western Australia's mining industry.

But before Diggers & Dealers officially began, we experienced something that reminded us what this industry is really about.

We had the privilege of attending the TopDrill Charity Sundowner, where hundreds of people from across the mining community came together to support the Royal Flying Doctor Service WA and Full Circle Therapies Inc. It was an evening built on generosity, connection and a shared commitment to giving back.

VBKOM was proud to contribute to the cause and to stand alongside an industry that understands success isn't measured only by projects delivered, but also by the communities we support.

The conversations will continue in Kalgoorlie.

This week, those moments led to something we're incredibly proud of: VBKOM featured on the front page of the Kalgoorlie Miner during Diggers & Dealers 2026.

It's more than just a newspaper article. It's a reflection of the journey we've begun in Australia, sharing our African expertise, building new partnerships, and introducing VBKOM to one of the world's most exciting mining regions.

This is just another chapter in the journey...

Every destination has a story.

Before the conversations at Diggers & Dealers begin, we took the opportunity to experience a little more of Western Australia… From the atmosphere of Optus Stadium and the history of Fremantle Prison to the underground limestone tunnels that helped shape the region.

It's a reminder that every mining district has a story long before the first drill rig arrives.

Small moments between big conversations.

Sometimes the most memorable parts of a business trip happen between the meetings.

A walk through a new city. A conversation with a local. Discovering places with stories to tell. Ending the day over a good meal while reflecting on everything you've experienced.

Western Australia has already offered plenty of those moments.

From exploring the Perth Mint and experiencing the journey of gold, to unwinding at Running With Thieves after a full day of discovery, it's been a reminder that understanding a place goes beyond boardrooms and conference halls.

Every experience adds another layer of context before Diggers & Dealers officially begins.

The conversations are just getting started.

Western Australia... what a way to start the journey. 🇦🇺

Before the conference halls, meetings and conversations begin, it was time to soak in a little of what makes this part of the world so special.

From strolling through the streets of Fremantle, to watching the sun dance across the water at the South Perth Fishing Jetty, enjoying one of the best fish & chips we've had at Little Creatures Brewery, and taking in the views from the iconic Ferris Wheel… it has been the perfect introduction to Western Australia.

Tomorrow, the focus shifts to why we're here.

Over the next few days, we'll be sharing our journey as VBKOM heads to Diggers & Dealers 2026, connecting with industry leaders, exploring new opportunities, and building relationships in one of the world's great mining regions.
This is only the beginning.
