Our pets are living longer than ever before, which means we're seeing more age-related conditions such as Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CDS), often referred to as dementia in pets.

Many of the signs can be subtle at first and are often mistaken for "normal ageing." Understanding the symptoms, the DISHAA assessment, and the important connection between chronic pain and cognitive decline can help owners seek support earlier and improve their pet's quality of life.

Welcome to the rebellious teenage years! From around 20 weeks of age and onwards, many young dogs start testing boundaries, forgetting their manners, and discovering that distractions are far more interesting than listening to their humans.

Our Intermediate Puppy Class is designed specifically for growing pups who need a little extra structure, guidance, and discipline as they navigate adolescence.

Through positive training and practical life skills, we'll help your young dog build the foundations needed to grow into a calm, confident, and well-mannered adult companion.

A very very sad goodbye to Blade.

We will always remember him for his sweet, gentle nature, and the extreme patience and calm he brought into every physiotherapy session. He was much loved by his family, and enjoyed curling up beneath a warm blanket for naps, and most of all he loved playing in his ball pit as much as he possibly could. Though he couldn’t see or hear very well, he could always tell when dinner was on the way (if dinner hour approached, he was sure to let you know!) and would make sure he was at the very front of the queue.

Some of his family's most treasured memories are of Blade running alongside his dad on the beach in Cape Town, matching him step for step without ever needing a leash - a perfect little pair, moving together as one. His mom remembers how every attempt to give him a kiss on the nose was met with Blade trying to "eat" it instead.

He loved his walks, provided they didn't involve wet or muddy paws, and he filled his home with countless small moments of joy, comfort, and love. Blade was deeply cherished, and his absence will be felt by all who knew him. We are grateful to have been part of his journey and send our heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

From spinal patients needing careful cage rest to post-operative orthopaedic recoveries rebuilding strength and mobility, every patient’s journey is unique.

We are always honoured to walk alongside both pets and their families during these healing journeys and to celebrate every small milestone together - from the first comfortable steps to the joyful return to normal life.

Our beloved specialist care-giver Jarrod is leaving PAWS today and heading off on a new adventure in Nelspruit. We can’t hold him back anymore, we really tried but he outsmarted us! 💙

We’ll be sure to send you tons and tons of photos of the furry faces you’ll be missing, we only wish we could chat to them about how you’re doing, because Macy will surely miss her personal carriage, Gracie will happily steal your chair (though she’ll be lost without her favourite lap), Prince Raka will be spoiled (of course) and we’ll let you know how he’s doing every wobbly step of the way, Ozzy will miss his swimming buddy, Flippie will be lost without his cushion and masseuse, and all your regular fur babies are in for a very big adjustment, but we promise to take great care of them while you dazzle the people of Nelspruit with your compassion and dedication.

We’re all really going to miss you Jarrod, but hopefully not as much as you’ll miss us ☺️ It’s been amazing to work with someone so committed and passionate. Wishing you nothing but success and happiness, good luck finding co-workers better than us! Wishing you, Kaylee, Joey and the new black kitty fur-baby (We’re siding with Kaylee! You’ve been out-voted) and any future family members (furry or otherwise) all the very best.

Little Livvy is staying with us while she recovers after a being hit by a car, and she has already stolen every heart around her simply by batting her beautiful long eyelashes. With her lovely curls, pretty spots, and the softest cuddles, she is as sweet as they come.

This cheerful little farm girl is adored by her doting parents and her many brothers and sisters back home, and it shows in how friendly and well behaved she is. Although… she did earn herself the “cone of shame” after getting a little too mischievous and trying to pull off her tail bandage the second she got a moment alone.

We are so proud of this precious girl and cannot wait to see her continue to heal and get back to her happy farm adventures.
