This initiative is managed by Ophthalmologists, Registered Ophthalmic Nurses, Optometrists and Registered Assistants who supports the cause. At the outset of the initiative, surgeries were performed during the week of “World Sight Day” which is commemorated worldwide on the second Thursday of October, however as we gain more support, patients can be assisted throughout the year. Strive 4 Sight aims to:

- Prevent avoidable blindness;

- Aid patients, young and old, with a treatable eye condition;

- Increase awareness for the need for primary eyecare in South Africa;

- Initiate child eyecare programmes;
