When individuals and movements unite globally, we create a powerful force. Rising at the 15th AWID International Forum. It was such a privilege to participate in this forum.
π On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we stand united against a chilling truth: every 10 minutes, a woman loses her life to violence.
π« Violence against women and girls is a pervasive human rights violation that impacts nearly one in three women globally. This means that many are subjected to physical or sexual violence at some point in their lives.
π In 2023 alone, at least 51,100 women fell victim to gender-based violence, tragically ending their lives at the hands of partners and family membersβa stark reminder of the urgent need for action.
π΄ This crisis has deepened across various environments, from the workplace to the digital realm, and is further fueled by conflict and climate change.
πͺ We must act decisively: hold perpetrators accountable and support powerful, well-funded national strategies that empower womenβs rights movements. Join us in taking action. Together, we can say enough is enough.
