(DATE CHANGE UPDATE) The show has been moved to the 9th of July 2026 (tickets for the initial date remain valid)
The legendary South African pianist Paul Hanmer has assembled a special ensemble to pay tribute to the late great Feya Faku.
featuring guest dj: DJ BOB (Bob Allan)
Last year, the two jazz icons were set to share a stage in Switzerland, a performance cut tragically short by Feya’s untimely passing just a day before the show. Now, Paul Hanmer has painstakingly assembled the exact powerhouse lineup originally intended for that European tour—bringing together a brilliant rhythm section, brass, and a full string quartet to celebrate a truly beautiful artist and human being.
Rhythm Section:
Sydney Mavundla on flugelhorn
Nhlanhla Radebe on bass
Bernice Boikanyo on drums
Strings Quartet:
Bonolo Kgaile, Lebogang Ledwaba (violins), Khotso Langa (viola), and Daliwonga Tshangela (violoncello)

Ahead of Keenan Meyer’s show, live at the Basement, on the 16th of June (marking the 50th anniversary of the Youth Uprisings), we’ve selected a few songs from ‘s discography that encompass the spirit of the day.
Siyaya (ft. )
• Derived from a common protest song that is sang in various marches/protest contexts. The sounds SIYAYA make you feel like a part of the struggle, a part of a community.
We Have Been Here Before
• A song with a self explanatory title, this one serves as our reminder that through all — we have been here before.
The Mountain
• A composition by Abdullah Ibrahim, referencing memory, home and landscape with a focus on Table Mountain (“Hoerikwaggo”) in Cape Town. We’ve added this one as a reminder that uprisings in ‘76 occurred throughout the country, even in the Cape.
A Fallist’s Prayer (ft. )
• A dedication (and a prayer) for a Youth led struggle of our times.
You can expect some of these songs and more, at the upcoming show. Tickets are still available on Quicket (via the link in our bio)
