What is a human being worth — and who gets to say?

A few weeks ago Themba, who opens this series tomorrow, stood in the old slave market of Stone Town, Zanzibar. Fifteen steps below the street there is a chamber where human beings were held in the dark for days — not out of carelessness, but as preparation. The ones who survived it fetched a better price. He walked out with one conviction he couldn't shake: that auction never really closed. It rebranded.

It runs on our timelines, where faces are rated in silence. On our campuses. In our relationships, our marriages, our mirrors. Most of us have been priced this week — we just didn't see the tag.

Tomorrow, we close the bidding.

UNPRICEABLE — a six-week journey through the story of Zacchaeus: one short man, one tree, and one dinner in Jericho that ended the pricing forever. Six Sundays on s*x, s*xuality, dating, marriage, singleness, and what a human being is actually worth.

This will not be six weeks of the church wagging its finger. No auction floor. A table. And tomorrow we mean that literally — after the morning service we host iSibaya, our leadership session on becoming the person people trust, with lunch catered. Come for the morning, stay for the table.
