Falling Bird
Life without colour, creativity and art is no life I could ever be apart of.

Still working my 9-to-5, I have realised it is easy to slip into seriousness and gloom. The blues from a monday seep into the whole week, then the month and before you know it, you are a corporate zombie.🧟♀️
Life isn't that serious though. We live in a world of sunsets and sunrises, a world with good food, where we share and tell stories and can support eachother.
Every person, experience and moment is unique. Almost like we are shooting stars.💫
Imperfect and beautiful shooting stars.💫
One of my first memories of peaches isn't of a fresh and juicy bite or a cool shade in the summer under the peach tree that grew in our garden. It's of my grandmother.
Every year, just after Christmas, when the peach tree's branches hung low with the weight of fresh peaches, my grandmother would make a visit. She would pluck the peaches off the trees until they looked like they had never carried fruit in the first place and then she would disappear into the kitchen.👀
When she finally emerged from the kitchen, with her work done, she wouldn't be alone. Bottles by the dozens would emerge with her. And in them, sweet preserved peaches. The fresh fruit had transformed into a sweet delight that would be my favourite snack until next year, just before Christmas.
When I was a young girl, my friends and I used to put on wigs, play dress-up, and film ourselves, like we were Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus.
Growing older, I filmed myself less and less, until the whole idea became foreign to me.
Now I find myself trying to reverse that clock. I want to show my art and expand my brand with my content. To do this, I am editing and filming again, and that inner child feels proud with every step.
Nice, hot chillies, for a chilly South African day. 🌶
Whenever the air feels crisp and the wind has a bit of a bite to it, nothing makes me feel as warm as cozying up with my paints, brushes and maybe a cheeky curry.
What makes you feel warm on cold days like these??❄️
Like most flowers, cosmos also has a specific meaning in Victorian flower language. In this beautifully symbolic language, cosmos means "I love you more than anyone could".
This is such a beautiful meaning to go with the other meaning of purity that cosmos flowers also have.
I must say, after finding these meanings, I look forward to the next time they bloom even more. Their stunning colours won't be the only thing I enjoy about them when they start blooming.

White cosmos has deep and significant meaning in many ways.
Cosmos as a flower in general is symbolic for order and harmony, and it also means modesty and purity. This second set of meanings are particularly for when the cosmos is white.
This is so stunning, since I mostly see them by the side side of the road or in barren spots in a field.
It's almost like they are purifying something.

Every April, I drive past all the cosmos next to the road and in the fields, and I love seeing them. 🌸
Their stunning whites, pinks, and purples make them look like they are a little bit of fantasy, stubbornly sprouting into the modern world. 🌱
They also always seem to sprout in places that had nothing there the rest of the year.

As an artist who hasn't taken the leap to pursue it full-time.
I sometimes wonder, "What's the point?", "Why didn't I choose differently?", or "Is this all it will ever be?".
Naturally, I know this is only my anxiety and insecurity, but sometimes these questions feel so unbearably loud. I always feel like there is more for me in this life, but I don't know where to start.
Well, for now, I will keep painting and working hard to shake my 9-to-5 once and for all.
Brown coloured moths have a beautiful set of meanings.
Firstly, they are symbols of grounding and the earth. This can remind us to stabilise ourselves and calm ourselves with the beauty of nature. 🌿
Next is the work that goes unseen. Not all changes are obvious and all at once. These changes are the most impactful, if you ask me, good or bad. 👀
Practical wisdom is another meaning this coloured moth could carry for us. Overthinking and empty words are easy, but useless. Solutions and real action are what drive change.
I love how such a small creature could inspire such significant meaning.
