South Africa's unemployment nightmare: The burden on its people - Ipsos 10/05/2023

Unemployment is the one issue South Africans worry about the most. Especially those of us who are unemployed. There is a solution and it is called the Job Seekers Exemption Certificate.

It says we have the right to decide for ourselves who we will work for, what wages we will work for, what conditions we will work in. Some say that is our God-given right.

We pray that politicians will see that it makes sense. That they will restore us our freedom to choose for ourselves how to feed our families. That they will remove the burdens of the labour laws that they have imposed on us. Until such time that we are back on our feet.

Some economists argue forcefully that the actual figure, shorn of technicalities, could be even higher: perhaps 60% of the population of working age. There are certainly more unemployed people in SA than there are those with jobs.
