Two people have reportedly been shot while a third person was stabbed in Selbourne, Alexandra, in an incident that occurred at around 7pm on Saturday evening.
We can't confirm if there were fatalities in the incident.

A taxi driver allegedly crashed into a Toyota Avanza at 16th Roosevelt in Alexandra, leaving residents shocked by the driverâs condition.
According to witnesses, the taxi driver appeared to be heavily intoxicated and was allegedly so drunk that he could not remember where he lived.
The incident happened at 16th Roosevelt, in Alex around 10 PM with the collision attracting the attention of residents in the area.
The extent of injuries, if any, has not yet been confirmed. Police and emergency servicesâ response is also yet to be established. ăviralăˇ

27 KILLED IN HORROR ZIMBABWE CRASH AS TRUCK COLLIDES WITH CHURCH MINIBUS

ZIMBABWE â 27 people have been killed in a horrific road crash after a truck collided head-on with a minibus carrying church members on the HarareâMasvingo Highway near Chivhu.
The devastating crash happened on Friday evening, 28 August 2026, as the minibus was reportedly carrying worshippers travelling to a church conference.
According to reports, the truck was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it collided with the minibus.
The impact triggered a fire, leaving the minibus badly burnt and killing many of the occupants.
Police said 23 people initially died at the scene, while others later succumbed to their injuries in hospital, bringing the reported death toll to 27.
At least seven people were injured and rushed to medical facilities for treatment.
The identities of those who died had not yet been released as authorities continued with investigations and the process of notifying relatives.
Reports have described the truck as foreign-registered, with South African trucking reports claiming it had travelled from South Africa. However, Zimbabwean authorities had not independently confirmed all details surrounding the truck's ownership at the time of reporting.
The crash has once again raised concerns about dangerous overtaking on Zimbabwe's major highways. ăviralăˇ

Botswana national arrested with live pangolin at Limpopo border

POLOKWANE â A 27-year-old Botswana national has been arrested after allegedly being caught crossing from Botswana into South Africa with a live pangolin in his bag.
The suspect, identified as Tholego Gaebolae, appeared before the Phalala Magistratesâ Court on Friday, 28 August 2026, facing charges of possession of a specially protected wild animal and contravening the Immigration Act 13 of 2002.
According to police, SANDF members were conducting routine patrols along the Limpopo River near the Groblersbrug Border Post at around 19:30 on Wednesday, 26 August, when they spotted a man crossing the river from Botswana into South Africa.
The soldiers allegedly approached the man and requested his passport, but he could not produce one.
A search of his bag allegedly uncovered a live pangolin, which is classified as a specially protected wild animal.
Police said the suspect could not provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the origin and possession of the animal. He was arrested and handed over to Tom Burke Border Policing.
Gaebolae was remanded in police custody, with the matter postponed to 17 September 2026 for a formal bail application and further investigations.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers commended the SANDF and SAPS for their vigilance and cooperation in protecting South Africaâs borders and endangered wildlife. ăviralăˇ

ALEXANDRA â Residents living around 17th, 18th and 19th Roosevelt and Selbourne say they have reached breaking point after being plunged into darkness once again.
The residents were hopeful when a transformer was installed in the area, believing that their long-running electricity crisis was finally coming to an end.
But that hope lasted just two weeks.
The transformer reportedly exploded, leaving hundreds of residents without electricity and once again asking the painful question: âWhen will someone come to our rescue?â
Angry residents allege that the transformer supplied to their area was a second-hand unit moved from another part of Alexandra and was simply not strong enough to handle the demand from the densely populated area.
They claim the transformer could not cope with the pressure because too many households depend on the same electricity infrastructure.
âWe feel like we have no councillors. We feel rejected and forgotten,â residents said in frustration.
Adding to their anger, residents allege that City Power is now asking them to pay again, despite claims that they had already contributed money towards getting electricity infrastructure in the area.
Residents say they feel betrayed â especially after being given what they describe as a âuseless transformerâ that failed within weeks.
And while families sit in the darkness, residents say criminals are also taking advantage of the situation.
They allege that cables are being cut in the area, worsening the crisis and leaving residents increasingly vulnerable.
For residents, this is no longer simply about electricity.
It is about children trying to study in darkness, families unable to run their homes normally, food potentially going to waste, businesses losing income and an entire community feeling like it has been forgotten.
âWe paid. We waited. They gave us a transformer â and now it has exploded. What are we supposed to do?â residents asked.
The community is demanding urgent intervention from City Power and local authorities, saying they cannot continue living from one electricity crisis to another. ăviralăˇ

FATHER AND 4-YEAR-OLD BOY DIE IN HORROR HOUSE FIRE

EDEN GLEN, EDENVALE â A father in his 50s and a four-year-old boy have died in a devastating early-morning house fire in Eden Glen, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday, 29 August 2026.
Firefighters were called to the double-storey residential property on Collins Street at about 03:35, following reports of a house well alight with people potentially trapped inside.
Crews from Edenvale, Primrose and Bedfordview fire stations rushed to the scene.
On arrival, firefighters found the upper section of the house engulfed in flames, with parts of the roof already collapsed.
The blaze had consumed four bedrooms, a walk-in closet and a separate ablution facility, while flames threatened the remaining rooms of the house.
Firefighters immediately launched a suppression operation to prevent the fire from spreading further.
Once the flames were brought under control, firefighters began a search, rescue and recovery operation.
Tragically, two charred bodies were discovered inside one of the rooms â those of a man believed to be in his 50s and a four-year-old boy.
A nine-year-old girl, who was reportedly the third person inside the house, managed to escape unharmed. Neighbours reportedly took her away from the scene.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and is now being investigated by police forensic officers and DEMS fire safety officials.
A section of Collins Street was temporarily closed while emergency crews worked at the scene.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been released.
