What ARE "data visualizations"? πŸ€” Data visualizations tell us stories about numbers or patterns that can be hard to process when we're just looking at rows and rows in a spreadsheet. 😴

Take this incredible example produced by Johanna Kamradt. 🀯 She's connected themes in prize-winning novels πŸ“š to the likelihood of winning the prestigious Booker Prize. You can see, for example, that 'Death' πŸ’€ sure seems to be a good way to get the judges' attention!

Be like Johanna and connect your data insights to your audience by signing up for our next workshop: Data Visualizations with Python! 🐍

πŸ’₯πŸ’₯ URGENT: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

We still need four or five volunteers to help out with our python workshop on Saturday, June 1st from 10:00 to 4:00.

Good to know:
✨ You don't have to be an expert, necessarily, but you should be comfortable with Python and data visualizations so that you can explain basic concepts to new learners
✨ You won't have to teach the class! Mentors at our workshops are very similar to teachers assistants. You will be paired up with one to four learners and your job is to help them get through the content successfully. In general, most of our mentors help out with a few little tips, some simple debugging, etc
✨ A lot of our mentors have volunteered with us for years because it's an incredibly rewarding experience!
✨ This is an in-person only workshop
✨ We will definitely buy you lunch πŸ₯ͺπŸ₯ͺ!!

If you are interested in volunteering, feel free to email us at [email protected] or go ahead and sign up:

WHY SHOULD I LEARN ABOUT DATA VISUALIZATIONS WITH PYTHON?
Visualizations illuminate hidden patterns and trends, transforming data into actionable knowledge. Spotify's 'Wrapped'? Those are visualizations of data!

At the same time, Python's 🐍 a great coding language for beginners. It’s beautiful and clean-looking syntax means you'll spend less time being confused (it looks sort of like English!), and more time understanding and applying the fundamentals of programming.

During the session, you’ll learn the answers to:
🌈 What is programming?
🌈 What are vizualiations, why are they important, and how do we use them?
🌈 What is Python used for?
🌈 How do I write and run a python program?
🌈 How can I read & analyze data in a file?
