Is Australia a legitimate nation or not?

Those who say ā€œnoā€ should say so.
Those who answer ā€œyesā€ should stop negotiating with people who don’t.

Have a read.

How not to think about Australia Day – Public Record How not to think about Australia DayThe Australia Day debate persists not because the question is complex, but because it is rarely stated honestly. I think Australia Day should remain January 26. I am not certain what it should commemorate beyond this—that Australia is a good place to live, that ...

Freedom. Restraint. Advocacy.
This is my platform for council.
Firm in purpose and grateful to keep serving our community.

21/10/2025

To everyone who supported me — thank you.

And to those who didn’t — my hand’s out to you too. We’re all in this community together, and I’ll work just as hard for you.

Looking forward to continuing to serve with conviction and goodwill.

Council's job is advocacy. Roger's job is healthcare. When a system isn't working, local government can call it out—even if the Premier would prefer otherwise.

One of the most important — and often forgotten — jobs of local government is advocacy.
Council can’t fix everything, but it can speak up when the State drops the ball.
Where do you think local government should lean in?
I know what’s at the top of my list…
Let me know yours in the comments.

Sometimes the hardest thing in politics is giving a straight answer.

ā€˜I deserve it.’

That’s what one councillor up for re-election said when voting for their own pay rise during budget deliberations.

No performance measures. No accountability.

Maybe that’s how government works — but in the real world, you earn it. You don’t award it to yourself.

I want government to be more like the real world — where reward comes from effort, not entitlement.

When government paperwork gets thicker than common sense. Some things never change….

How do councillors get pay rises? It’s not in appendix K but it is in my video later today.

Support Jillian’s right to free speech 07/10/2025

I know Jillian - we have spoken many times. She cares for her patients and she cares about the truth. When healthcare becomes politicised, this takes courage. Jillian has my full support.

Support Jillian’s right to free speech She questioned her employer, Queensland Children’s Hospital, expressing concerns about the hospital's use of the ā€œaffirmation model" in treating children with gender dysphoria.

Once the rural rates oversight was exposed, I went back through the budget line by line.

Here’s what I found:

- Council set rates on the basis of a $5m surplus. The actual figure was $6.4m — a $1.4m difference.
- Last year, fees and charges came in $1.2m over budget. If that happens again, that’s another $1.2m.
- Together, that would mean an extra $2.6m surplus.

So why hike rates — 4.95% on GRV and 9.95% on UV — just to raise $2.5m?

It looks like a pattern: budget low, tax high, then discover there was never a gap in the first place. That means ratepayers are being taxed to fund projects that were never budgeted.

The question is simple: was a rate rise even necessary?

I don’t support taxing for gaps that don’t exist. I want to keep rates low.

Tonight: a budget amendment. Tomorrow: my breakdown. For now — does art imitate life?
