I ❤️this
As Buddhist monks continue their Walk for Peace across the United States, spreading messages of compassion and unity, Pastor Corey Brooks of Chicago is walking his own path toward healing. Since 2016, Brooks has been on a mission to raise awareness about violence in his community. His journey began with a bold walk across America to highlight the devastating impact of crime on Chicago’s South Side and to raise support for positive change. In the past year, he has walked more than 100 miles, with a focus on creating hope and opportunity where violence has taken hold.
Brooks, like the monks, believes that peace is built through action, service, and connection. Despite the differences in their paths, their shared belief in the power of compassion and community ties them together in the pursuit of a peaceful future. Brooks’ journey is a powerful reminder that turning pain into purpose can transform lives and communities, reinforcing the idea that peace grows when individuals invest in one another and refuse to accept violence as inevitable. Today, his efforts continue to inspire others to take action and spread hope.

We want to acknowledge the grief and turmoil in our beautiful city this week, and share our profound sorrow with the family of Renee Nicole Good as they navigate unimaginable loss.
What we offer at Orchestra Hall can’t change what’s happened or resolve what is deeply broken in our society—but we hope there is solace and strength to be found in being together, in looking out for each other and in sharing music that can lay bare and help us process our deepest emotions.
The Minnesota Orchestra stands in solidarity with our community—and we hope to offer a place to come together. Please know that Thomas and our musicians do so with love and compassion.

“My hand is at the small of your back; I may let you stumble, but I will never let you fall.” — Maya Angelou
January is Mental Wellness Month, a time to honor emotional care, healing, and the quiet strength it takes to keep going. Dr. Angelou reminds us that we are not meant to navigate life alone — that support, love, and compassion can hold us steady even when we falter.
Caring for our mental well-being is not a weakness. It is an act of courage, trust, and self-preservation.
You are allowed to stumble. You are never meant to fall alone. 🤍
