Rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs in impoverished, underserved, rural communities.

How could someone do that to them?

I first got the call 1 week ago. 2 dumped mama dogs. I went out to look but couldn’t find them. Then I got another call and another. I was able to triangulate their location to come up with an idea of where they were dumped. An old swimming and fishing hole. And just down the road one of the callers started feeding them. She called me the next morning to tell me they were still there so I knew that’s where we needed to set up a feeding station. They wouldn’t let anybody get near them. In fact, they would run with fear in the other direction when someone approached..

So we set up the feeding station and I spent hours looking for their puppies, but I had already assumed the worst. Those mamas wouldn’t leave their babies. And they were so full of milk I knew they had just given birth.

Every morning at 730 and every evening at 4 I would drive 30 minutes in one direction to feed them and water them and try to get them used to my presence.

On day 3 I knew o was going to have to use a trap to catch them, but I had to be strategic because of one dog saw the other get trapped we would lose our chances at capture. We needed to catch them both at the same time and that calls for a special trap called a missy trap which I don’t have. So I called on a friend and rescuer Lauren Stewart with Rescue House! She is a trapping extraordinaire and I knew with her help we could catch them.

Finally on day 7 I felt confident enough that the girls would enter a trap and called on her to come and set up!

Within 30 minutes after set up we caught them!! A moment filled with so much joy. Even better this mama and daughter duo were happy to be caught too! It took just a few moments to gain their trust!

I can’t even begin to wrap my head around what type of monster would rip their newborn pups away from them, abandon them, and then someone shot at them!

Daria (darker mama) and Darla (lighter daughter) are angels, they are such incredible dogs. Please help me spoil them and love them and get them the vet care they need by donating to them.
