Contemporary| Indie | Progressive| A blend of ancient tradition and contemporary sounds of music defines the band from Surat, The Tapi Project.
With its folk and contemporary music fusion – The Tapi Project is a band that goes in a poetic flow and believes music to be an extension of who we really are. The band experiments with intricate genres in music like folk, trip-hop, jazz, ambient textures and use folk instruments as an essential part of their band. The Tapi Project has performed at more than 30 concerts in India, and also in the international circuit. They are gaining in recognition, with coverage by BBC London, Rolling Stones, MTV, Songdew, etc. The Tapi Project is primarily a collaboration between Yogendra Saniyawala (Music, Lyrics, instruments), a traveler, musician, and film-maker, Swati Minaxi (Lead Vocalist) who stands out with her distinct vocal style and vast range, and Gaurav Kapadia (Sound Engineer and instruments), an avid reader, musician, and photographer.

The Art of finding Home
This song ‘Khuda ne mere’, written by late Rahat Indori. 🤌🏽 it is one of our favourites and most confusing on the rhythm side. Try it yourself.
There’s a certain kind of Indian independent music
that doesn’t try to “represent India” in a loud or
performative way. It simply exists within its
complexities - multilingual, restless, rooted,
urban, wandering. The Tapi Project belongs firmly
to that space.
Built around the songwriting and compositions of
Yogendra Saniyawala, alongside Swati Minaxi,
Gaurav Kapadia, and Biju Nambiar,
The Tapi Project moves fluidly through indie, folk,
jazz and rock without sounding like a “fusion
project” assembled in a lab.
