Bad actors don’t discriminate by organisation size, industry, or country. We are seeing more and more organisations being affected by cyber incidents from small businesses to major universities and critical institutions.
Recent reports from New Zealand highlight another large-scale cyber incident affecting university systems and exposing student information. This is a reminder that cybersecurity is no longer just an IT issue it is an organisational risk.
At WebSafe Samoa, we encourage organisations to strengthen their cybersecurity posture by:
• Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
• Keeping systems updated
• Training staff to identify scams and phishing
• Backing up important data
• Having an Incident Response Plan ready
Cyber incidents can happen at any time preparedness and awareness are key.
Names, email addresses, student ID numbers and messages between users could all be affected by the breach.
💬 Are you affected? Send us or message or email us at [email protected]

It starts from the top. 🔐
A big fa’afetai to the leadership and management team at Samoa National Provident Fund for taking the time to strengthen their understanding of cybersecurity risk and decision-making.
Through our Leadership & Management Cybersecurity Training, we focused on what really matters at that level protecting services, members, and trust through better awareness, faster decision-making, and stronger governance.
A key highlight of the session was the practical, hands-on activities, where managers worked through real scenarios. This helps streamline how teams can review their current processes, strengthen security controls, and turn insights into immediate actions.
What participants are saying:
“Very practical and easy to understand it really opened our eyes to the risks we face every day. It also got us thinking about our current processes and how we can strengthen our security controls.”
Cybersecurity is no longer just an IT issue. it’s a leadership responsibility.
We look forward to continuing this journey with SNPF as they strengthen their security posture and resilience.

Instagram Password Reset Emails: What’s Really Happening?
Millions of Instagram users have been urged to stay vigilant after reports emerged of unexpected password reset emails, raising fears of a possible data breach. Here is the update from Instagram:
✅The Cause: A flaw in the reset system allowed an external party to trigger these requests at scale.
✅ The Status: The issue has been fixed by Instagram.
💡 Advice: If you didn't request a reset, you can simply delete the email. Your account remains secure as long as you don't click the link. For added protection, enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your account.
Staying informed helps us all navigate the digital world more safely and confidently.
