🇻🇨 Promoting creative confidence and intergenerational exchange in Bequia
Pillars: The Arts 🎵 Environment 🌱 Healing 🫂
10/06/2026
🇯🇲🇨🇦 We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Jamaican-Canadian artist Janice Garel to our Creative Arts Centre for a special one-day silk painting workshop inspired by the vibrant island beauty of Bequia. 🌺🦋🌼
During this hands-on session, participants were introduced to the French Gutta Serti technique, a traditional silk painting method that combines precision and color. Designs were first developed on paper before being carefully transferred onto silk, allowing participants to transform their artistic ideas into beautiful textile artworks. 🎨
🖌️The workshop provided a wonderful opportunity for learning, creative expression and cultural exchange, with each participant producing a unique piece inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us. 🪷
A heartfelt thank you to Janice for sharing her expertise and passion with our community. We look forward to hosting more dynamic workshops like this in the future as we continue to explore new artistic techniques. ✨

Joint Project Managers Holly Bynoe and Jessica Jaja, alongside Mental Health Focal Point Kimmette Robertson, come together for a reflective conversation – travelling from Union Island to Mayreau, Canouan and Bequia. The three share what stood out during the initiative, what moved them, and what they’re still curious about as they look ahead to the longer work of building sustainable, locally-led healing across the region.
Healing Together is a psychosocial support initiative led by The Hub Collective Inc. in partnership with MindTHRIVE Co. Created in response to the compounded and layered traumas affecting communities across the Grenadines, it provides safe, culturally grounded spaces where individuals can process grief, stress, and uncertainty while building practical tools through one-on-one counselling support and somatic and nature-based group sessions.

In connection with our Healing Together initiative, we recognise the importance of spaces like these to support healing, connection, and emotional wellbeing across our communities.
“We are Circling Online once again, a gathering of old and new friends exploring the Art of Being Human through compassionate communication. Come share, listen, and express the full medley of emotions: grief, sorrow, joy, rage, confusion, love through these relentless, shaky times.”
