The Energy Unit visited the St. Joseph Convent Marriaqua on January 28, 2025 and made a presentation to the 4th and 5th Form students about the current renewable energy technologies available in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and simple ways in which Vincentians can conserve energy at home.

All Vincentian students (ages 10-18) are invited to participate in the OECS Watt’s Art: Sustainable Energy Meets Creativity Competition. This event is held in observance of CARICOM Energy Awareness Month, celebrated annually in November.
The competition will take place from Monday, November 4th to Monday, December 2nd, during which students will create their two-dimensional art pieces. Participants are encouraged to explore the following themes to inspire their artwork:
• The power of renewable energy resources
• Energy conservation in everyday life
• Innovative solutions for a sustainable future with energy
• The impact of energy on our lives and the environment
The submission deadline is Monday, December 2nd, 2024, at 11:59 PM.
Submitted artworks will be featured on the OECS’ social media pages, where the public will vote for their favourite piece to determine the People’s Choice winner.
A panel of judges will also select the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place winners. The Sustainable Energy Unit of the OECS Commission will publish artwork from selected participants in a 2025 calendar and feature it among learning resources on the OECS Digital Learning Ecosystem.

The Caribean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE) has issued its annual Caribbean Energy Data Collection Internship Call - 2024.
The CCREEE is seeking motivated interns in each CARICOM country to work directly with their local Energy Ministries to gain practical experience in the energy sector.
This internship will run for eight weeks from May 27 to July 19, 2024. Interested Participants are asked to send their application (including a motivation letter and CV) to [email protected] on or before April 19, 2024.
Vincentians are strongly encouraged to apply.
