It’s official. Dilshod Bakhtiyorov has secured the full-ride Rimer Entrance Scholarship from McGill University, Canada’s #1 and one of the world’s top 27 universities.

This is the 🏆 first student not only from Uzbekistan, but from all of Central Asia, to have ever received the prestigious award from McGill. This is a historic achievement!

About Speaker
Shahruzkhon Elomov is a proud Yonsenian 25.5, studying for Economics major at UIC, ranked #50 globally, #11 in Asia.

Shahruzkhon says that UIC is multicultural. He has never met so many ethnically different students in his entire life. The Uzbek community’s solidarity and unity is felt at very good level. There is Uzbek Youth Association at Yonsei, which organizes cultural events and builds Central Asian community.

Academically, he shared that he has successfully wrote his first research paper on the topic of nationalism in Korea nad Europe during his first semester. He has also been scoring straight As and one B in his course subjects.

Though he tries to balance studies with sports. He is a member of Yonsei Fight club team. He also enjoys working out at the gym, loves Korean cuisine and even had a job experience during the winter break. Despite so many extracurriculars and studies, he recently got TOPIK 1, and will be taking TOPIK 2 test soon.

FYI: Shahruzkhon had admission offers from three more top 50 universities, including the University of Toronto🇨🇦, McGill University🇨🇦, and Korea University🇰🇷, but ended up enrolling at Yonsei for unforgettable academic experience in liberal arts curriculum.

Born in Samarkand, Farzona graduated from School No. 1, got IELTS 7.5 and SAT. She applied to many top universities in the US, UK, Europe, and China. Some of the universities she got admission from included Shanghai JiaoTong University, Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, University of Bristol, and HIT Shenzhen. She is now studying Robotics Engineering.

Farzona says Shenzhen, a city where the HIT branch is located, is very favorable for good internships as it is a tech hub. I have been to BYD headquarters through university field trips. There are also some well-known giant enterprises like Tencent, Huawei, and DJI. Shenzhen, China’s Silicon Valley, is one of the fast-growing cities because of its coastal location in Guangdong Province.

Moreover, the HIT Shenzhen branch is located in University Town, just next to Tsinghua and Peking graduate schools, which HITSZ students can also visit. For most of the locals, HIT students are highly respected, as it is a C9 League and selective school. HIT has a strong reputation for engineering majors. I like how meeting a student testing his robot on campus is so popular. China offers affordable and high-quality education for me. I like how cities here are like those from cyberpunk and offer cheap opportunities to travel.

East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) is hosting a Green Energy Summer Program to provide undergraduate and graduate students and working professionals with a comprehensive understanding of green energy development, policy frameworks, and technological innovations in China.
