Alaska Cruise Summary
The trip of a lifetime

Day 1 – Seattle Departure 🚢

We started our Alaska adventure aboard the Cunard Queen Elizabeth.

As Seattle faded into the distance, the excitement finally became real. We spent the afternoon exploring the ship, settling into our cabin, and watching the coastline disappear beyond the horizon.

There is something special about sail away day—the anticipation of the unknown, the promise of adventure, and a week of making memories together.

Alaska bound ❤️

Day 2 – A Day at Sea 🌊

Today was all about slowing down and enjoying life at sea.

Morning coffee on the balcony. Long walks around the promenade deck. Afternoon tea. Watching endless ocean views drift by.

One of the things we love most about cruising is that sometimes the best days aren’t spent rushing from place to place—they’re spent simply enjoying the journey.

Day 3 – Wrangell, Alaska 🦅

Our first Alaskan port was the charming town of Wrangell.

Unlike some of the larger cruise destinations, Wrangell feels authentic and untouched. Eagles seemed to be everywhere, fishing boats lined the harbor, and the surrounding wilderness reminded us just how wild Alaska truly is.

A beautiful first glimpse of the Last Frontier.

Day 4 – Sitka, Alaska ⛰️

Surrounded by mountains and ocean, Sitka feels like a postcard come to life. The combination of Russian history, Native Alaskan culture, and incredible scenery makes it unlike anywhere we’ve ever been.

Every turn seemed to reveal another breathtaking view.

Day 5 – Ketchikan, Alaska 🐟

Colorful buildings, floatplanes overhead, and a lively waterfront welcomed us to Ketchikan today.

We wandered through town, explored local shops, and soaked in the rich culture and history that make Ketchikan so unique.

This town has a personality all its own and was an incredible place to spend the day.

Day 6 – Juneau, Alaska 🏔️

Towering mountains surrounded the harbor, reminding us once again that everything in Alaska seems bigger, grander, and more dramatic than anywhere else.

From the moment we stepped ashore, we were surrounded by stunning scenery and the kind of beauty that makes you stop and simply take it all in.

Juneau did not disappoint.

Day 7 – Endicott Arm 🐋❄️

A day we’ll remember forever.

Sailing through Endicott Arm felt like entering another world. Waterfalls cascaded down sheer cliffs. Icebergs floated past the ship. Every direction looked like a scene from a nature documentary.

Later that night, we stood at the bow watching for whales until nearly 11 PM before finally giving in to the cold and heading back inside.

A little later, we turned on the ship’s live bow camera and suddenly saw two whales playing directly in front of the ship.

We ran to our balcony.

There they were.

Two whales swimming right alongside us.

For several magical moments, they surfaced beside the ship before disappearing into the dark Alaskan waters.

Of all the incredible things we’ve seen on this trip, this was the moment that took our breath away.

Day 8- Sea Day

Day 9 – Victoria, British Columbia 🌸

Our final stop before returning home was beautiful Victoria.

After days of glaciers, mountains, and wilderness, Victoria offered beautiful gardens, historic buildings, and a relaxed coastal atmosphere.

It was the perfect final chapter to an unforgettable journey; with full hearts and memories we’ll be talking about for years.

Homeward Bound ❤️

As our Alaska cruise aboard the Queen Elizabeth comes to an end, we’re reflecting on an incredible week of adventure.

From Wrangell to Sitka, Ketchikan to Juneau, the glaciers of Endicott Arm, and our unforgettable whale encounter, every day brought something new and memorable.

The photos will help us remember the sights.

But it’s the moments—the laughter, the wonder, the quiet mornings at sea, and the whales swimming beside our balcony—that we’ll carry with us forever.

Until the next adventure. ❤️

A few photos from our Alaska cruise aboard the Queen Elizabeth. 🚢

I have to admit… Jeremy, the Smash Burger Guy, cleans up pretty well. 😍

After spending most of the year behind the grill in a Hula Hut t-shirt, seeing him dressed in a tuxedo for Cunard’s Gala Evening was quite the surprise. Looking pretty spiffy, if you ask me!

Now I’m thinking we may need to introduce a new tradition when we get home…

Formal Smash Burger Sunday. 🍔🤵

Imagine ordering a double smash burger from a guy wearing a tuxedo.
If anyone can pull it off, it’s Jeremy.

What do you think? Should the tux make an appearance at Hula Hut for special occasions?

🐳💙 Whale Watching in Alaska — WOW!

Last night was absolutely incredible.

We counted more than 100 whale spouts from the ship alone! 🌊🐋

Everywhere we looked, there seemed to be another blow in the distance. Some were close, some were far away, but each one reminded us just how amazing nature can be.

There’s something magical about standing on deck, surrounded by mountains and ocean, watching these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.

Moments like this make you stop, put down your phone, and simply soak it all in.

Alaska continues to exceed every expectation. 💙

💭 Have you ever seen whales in the wild? What wildlife encounter has left you speechless?

☕🚢 Slow Living… Cruise Ship Style

One of our favorite things about this trip has been embracing a slower pace.

The day usually starts with coffee in bed, a plate of pastries and fresh fruit, followed by a second breakfast at the Lido buffet. (Vacation calories don’t count, right? 😄)

Then it’s time to layer up in rain gear and head ashore to explore whatever adventure awaits in the next port.

One unexpected highlight? Finding the Sitka Moose Lodge. 🫎

It was the perfect place to step away from the crowds, visit with locals, and enjoy a quieter side of town. Sometimes the best travel experiences aren’t on the itinerary at all.

We’re learning that slow living isn’t about doing nothing—it’s about taking the time to appreciate the little moments. The morning coffee. The conversations. The scenery. The unexpected discoveries.

And Alaska has given us plenty of all four. 💙

💭 What’s the best “off-the-beaten-path” place you’ve ever stumbled upon while traveling?

🐳💙 Sailing through Alaska’s Inside Passage has been nothing short of incredible.

Towering mountains, glaciers, endless forests, and wildlife around every turn—but the whales have stolen the show. There’s something truly humbling about watching these magnificent animals surface beside the ship, reminding us just how amazing and wild our world really is.

Moments like these are why we embrace our off-season. Time to explore, reconnect, and experience places we’ve only dreamed about.

The scenery is breathtaking, but the memories we’re making with family are what we’ll treasure most.

🐾😂 What day is it? Did you feed the dogs?

Anyone else’s dog walking around looking confused?

“Have I been fed yet?”
“Is it breakfast or dinner?”
“What day is it?”

Honestly… we’re asking the same questions. 🤣

One minute it’s Monday, the next it’s Thursday, and somehow we’re still trying to figure out what day it is.

Good thing Hula Hut has our weekly specials to keep us on track during snowbird season!

Because without them, we’d be relying on the dogs for scheduling… and that doesn’t seem to be going very well. 🐶💛

Who’s with us? What’s the funniest thing you’ve forgotten since slowing down for the summer?

(No dogs actually missed any meals)

Hi! We’re just taking a moment to share a little something about us.

We’re Jeremy and Melissa, the owners of Hula Hut.

Jeremy retired after 26 years of military service, and Melissa is an educator.
Together, we’re proud parents to an amazing son and grandparents to a beautiful granddaughter.

We call the Foothills home and love everything about the Yuma lifestyle—from exploring the desert and meeting new people to building connections within this incredible community.

During the off-season, we hit the road in our RV to visit family, make memories with our loved ones, and enjoy new adventures along the way. No matter where our travels take us, we’re always excited to return to Yuma and reconnect with the community we love.

We can’t wait to hear about everyone’s adventures when we reopen in October!

Mahalo,

Jeremy & Melissa

What strange weather we’ve had since mid-March!
It got unseasonably HOT and then absolutely beautiful all of April & May.
We wish you snowbirds would’ve stayed longer to enjoy it!
Business has been tough for so many since the heat ran ya off.
We hear it in so many conversations from nails, hair, Dr, dentists, restaurants, food trucks, and boutiques.
We can’t wait to see everyone again this fall.
Until then, we’ll be somewhere on this heat index.

Thank you for being apart of our story!

We miss you all so much and hope that you are happy & healthy!

Honoring the fallen

Today we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for the sacrifices made to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As a military family, this day holds special meaning for us.
We honor those who never made it home and the families who carry their memory forward. ❤️🤍💙

Please take a moment today to remember our fallen heroes.
