Perhaps the colorful plume I exhibit is to distort the truth.
I am not a vibrant Phoenix; lit with flames and strength. But in reality, I am a Unicorn in Noir; jaded to the pains and weaknesses of the past.

Present in the eyes of those who know me, see the twinge of a lie in my own. The flat chord where once the note flew skyward.
Lost within the world, despite the map of scars across my body.
Feigning a smile outward; cringing inside. Terrified someone will learn the truth of my mask.

I asked Her Highness if I could get up to unpack a box... that was her response. Well I didn’t get a box unpacked but I did manage to not be eaten by the house panther. So, that’s a win, right?

Da Hallow approves of new couch. The loveseat is apparently hers. I get the floor. 🤣🤣

I’m not healed, I doubt I ever truly will be, but I am still here. I miss these two so, so much. One left me years before, but the loss of my second beloved reopened a wound I had honestly forgotten. I’m very raw, and still utterly crushed but, I know these two would not want me to hurt more. My ginger buddy lived to see 19 years, but my beautiful silver buddy barely saw 13. I still cry at night, and will for many days to come. I see them out of the corner of my eye. I hear them when I’m doing laundry or dishes. Even my little house panther mourns her big brother. While I am not healed, or whole, I am still here. I will always miss you, my beloved Samhain and Jack. I love you both.

I’m screaming for help in the stifling silence; reaching for someone to save me...
