A Journey of Hope. A Transformation for Life. Admin. Office M-F 8am-4:30pm

“I pray every day that God opens doors for them!” | LifePath Christian Ministries 06/23/2026

Meet Brenda, a LifePath Case Manager at the Men's and Women's Shelter. Brenda helps women navigate the admittance process, welcoming struggling individuals into a safe, accepting place, and then she goes the extra mile to let them know she is listening and truly cares about what they're going through.

“I pray every day that God opens doors for them! A lot of the stories that I hear, I can truly relate to,” Brenda says, remembering a time in her own past when she was forced to flee her home because of domestic violence. “I don’t regret ever facing those challenges because it really shows you who you are. You’ve got to dig inside yourself and find the warrior that’s in there...."

Rooted in Stability. It's a Biblical principle we believe in, and it's LifePath's foundation. It has sustained LifePath's mission to extend the love of Christ to our neighbors in need by providing food, shelter, and a path to support services in a way that promotes individual dignity, since 1962.

Now, we're taking a big leap of faith - answering God's call, embarking on the next stage of what it looks like to meet the growing needs of the community, while providing a path to stability and long-term positive change.

The renovation of 475 W Philadelphia Street as LifePath's new main campus will create a space intentionally designed around dignity, safety, and hospitality.

Guests will enter through a new, light-filled reception area that replaces the institutional feel often associated with emergency shelters. A covered entrance will allow individuals to wait safely out of the weather and off the street while accessing services. Inside, the building will provide a coordinated system of care where individuals can receive not only shelter but also the guidance and support needed to move toward stability.

Rooted in Christ; rooted in stability.

In the upcoming days we're excited to share more of LifePath's plans to expand our impact, with the renovation of a historic building in downtown York that will allow us to help more neighbors in need move from crisis to stability. Case managers and a full supportive staff, partner agencies, recovery and health services, rental readiness programs and more all in one location, provided with care and dignity.

With the right support, stability takes hold and we all can have the opportunity to thrive.

In a recent Life Skills Workshop, Case Manager Chris Lippert shared techniques on how to grow plants from seed. Guests selected vegetable, herb and flower seeds for the plant they wanted to grow, and Chris walked them through the proper planting and growing conditions – seed, soil, water, sun – so their plants have the best opportunity to thrive. The reward is not immediate. Growing from seed takes planning, preparation, time and care.

During the workshop, we got to know each other a little better…. We asked, “Why did you select the plant you chose to grow?” Some had childhood memories associated with a certain flower. Others chose an herb or vegetable that’s part of a favorite meal.

We also asked, “What personal goal do you hope to manifest by the time your seedling begins to sprout? The answers were wide-ranging and inspiring – from finding a job or restarting a career, taking the next steps towards sobriety, to moving into a new home.

You can see in these pictures the progression and growth by their care. Our prayer is, as these plants grow, so does their faith, hope, perseverance and belief in what’s possible for their future through God’s grace, when planted in good soil. Matthew 13:3-23

"Dementia does not discriminate. It affects people from every background — and for those without stable housing, the challenges are even greater. Memory loss, confusion, difficulty managing medications, and navigating services can make daily survival incredibly complex."

This insight from our partners at Good News Consulting Inc. and Dementia Friendly York/Adams was at the forefront of our meeting earlier this spring, which led to deeper understanding of what it means to meet the needs of each individual, with dignity - in every stage of life.

This meeting led to a greater partnership and commitment to provide services and support to people with dementia. Through training and certification provided by Good News Consulting and Dementia Friendly York/Adams, LifePath now has five Dementia Friendly Practitioner certified case managers on staff, which better prepares us to offer compassionate and informed support and connection to services.

Today we had the opportunity to visit Life Path Christian Ministries to share how dementia impacts individuals experiencing homelessness.

Dementia does not discriminate. It affects people from every background — and for those without stable housing, the challenges are even greater. Memory loss, confusion, difficulty managing medications, and navigating services can make daily survival incredibly complex.

We’re grateful for the staff and community stakeholders who welcomed this important conversation. Raising awareness is the first step toward creating more compassionate, dementia-friendly communities for everyone.

We look forward to future conversations and more community collaborations to tackle the challenges faced in this sector. If you would like to learn more and get involved reach out to us and we can help!
