CALL FOR ART: BIRDS
We are seeking bird-related art for the July exhibit at HIVE artspace in York, PA.
Submission Period: June 1 through June 15 (by midnight).
Exhibit dates: July 3 - Aug 1, 2026.
Opening Reception: First Friday, July 3, 5-9pm.

Birds, birds, birds... ALL the birds! So many to wonderful birds to choose from! You can even invent your own! As always, the bird / birds do not have to be the main subject, but must be featured somewhere in the piece. All mediums are welcome.

IMPORTANT NOTES: Please be aware of federal laws regarding feathers and bird bones - yes, even ones you find out in nature. Artworks violating these laws will not be considered for exhibition. Likewise, no animals should be harmed in the making of the art, no harm of animals should be depicted in the art.

MORE IMPORTANT NOTES:
• There is no fee to submit artwork for consideration.
• Submitting artwork does not guarantee acceptance into the exhibit.
• ALL artists will receive notification 7-10 days after the submission deadline, whether their artwork was selected or not.

SUBMISSION NOTES:
• Up to 3 submissions allowed via email, more by providing a link to more work.
• There is no fee to submit, but there is a $5 exhibit fee for accepted artists ($5 total regardless of number of artworks accepted.)
• Gallery Commission is 35% on artworks sold.
• Final artwork must be wired/ready-to-hang/display.

York County Cultural Alliance :
The Cultural Alliance of York County will be hosting Creative Office Hours at The Grotto Commons every 3rd Tuesday of the month from 12pm-2pm.

If there’s one thing that comes up over and over again in our creative community, it’s the need for gathering space. Workshops and seminars for creatives are great, but physically just getting together to talk through challenges and celebrate successes is key.

Cultural Alliance staff and grant Navigators, as well as talented community artists and business mentors will be available at each session for casual conversations with artists and creative entrepreneurs to get direct information about resources available and to just have conversations/provide support.

Creative Office Hours are being held withsupport from York LaunchBox, powered by Penn State and The Grotto.

Additionally, this event coincides with Debbie Bailey’s Kudo Club, where there will be free access to collage materials and hands on art-making. Bring something you are working on and spend the afternoon with other artists.

The Grotto is located at 17 E Philadelphia St in York, PA. There is a handy parking garage less than a block away at 25 W Philadelphia St ($2/hr) or street parking with ParkMobile app. (PSA: Sips Café- Coffee|Brunch|Dirty Sodas is right on the way to the Grotto from the parking garage & the Dirty Dr Pepper is stellar, just sayin.)
