Bob Weir, founding member and iconic guitarist of Grateful Dead, has died at the age of 79, according to a Variety report.

Weir was a central figure in the band’s unique blend of rock, folk, blues, and improvisational exploration that became one of the most influential and enduring legacies in music history. Known for his rhythm work, vocals, and creative spirit, he helped shape the Dead’s sound across decades of touring and recording.

His impact extended far beyond one band, influencing generations of musicians and music lovers alike.
