Eww hold up! What’s that weird black line under my anklet?!

💡 This is where knowledge becomes power.

This is called Metallic Abrasion.

When dirt (sand), dust, lotions, ect rub on the metal it is broken down into tiny fine black metal particles.

This phenomenon is not reflective of the karat or quality of the jewelry. (Yes! Solid Gold does this too.)

It is also not my skin reaching to the gold, but the gold reacting to the environment.

🧼 Just soap and water will take it off.
The jewelry remains beautiful ✨.

🚨 BUT if you notice the gold rubbing off to reveal silver or copper underneath, that’s different and a sign it’s plated.
