The average life span of a tank-type water heater is 8-12 years if it's gas and 10-15 years if it's electric. However, we have seen a 29-year-old water heater still running!

According to the EPA, the average groundwater temperature in South Central PA is about 52 degrees. Some areas of the United States vary from 37 degrees to 77 degrees. The lower the groundwater temperature, the more energy your water heater needs to use to get your water up to 120 degrees.
