A customer with some physical limitations had an older computer that was no longer working. She ended up needing a new computer which I ordered from Dell, a printer which I picked up from Office Depot, and a monitor which I picked up from Best Buy. On the day of our appointment I went over to her house and took down all of the old equipment and swapped it out with the new equipment. I set her computer up exactly how her old one was setup along with her photos and data from her old hard drive. I set up her new printer and her new monitor. There was an issue with her Xfinity Wi-Fi where she did not remember her Wi-Fi password. When logging into the gateway, I was not able to change the password because Xfinity had locked her account. I contacted Xfinity with her and unfortunately they couldn’t do anything because the phone number on her account did not match her phone number. They told her that she needed to go over to the Xfinity store to get her account situated. Before I left, I broke down all of the cardboard boxes and put them in her recycling. I also took her old parts with me and recycled everything I could . In her own words, she is not computer or text savvy so I wrote her a letter that she could take with her to the store and get the help she needed. She went over to the store and was able to get her account fixed. Later that week we had another appointment and I got her Wi-Fi up and working. That is why my business is different. We go extra mile.

Do these components look important? Well they are and in fact if they get damaged the MacBook Pro no longer functions. I think it would be a great idea to put these exposed components underneath a battery with loctite red level adhesive. Even better why don’t we put raised edges around the each cell of the battery so if anyone ever has to shimmy under to release the adhesive and replace the battery they will almost certainly unknowingly kill their laptop in the process!

A customer came with a 2022 Macbook Air. The keyboard and trackpad are not functioning after a few drops of water were spilled onto the palmrest. On inspection there were only a few droplets of water near the trackpad. The logic board and upper assembly were working. There is damage to the trackpad itself and to the trackpad flex cable. Both parts will need to be replaced. There is corrosion on the connector and the cable itself. The corrosion forms when copper, which makes up many electrical components comes into contact with water and air. Corrosion doesn't always mean the part is dead but when there is burnt circuitry the part usually needs to be replaced. There are instances where resistors, capacitors and other surface mounted components can be replaced if the rest of the part has no other damage however this isn't one of them. In order to get this computer working it needs a new trackpad and trackpad flex cable. It also needs a full palmrest assembly replacement. Replacing the trackpad isn't hard however replacing the palmrest assembly is something that Apple does not want you to do. Every part has to come out of the case and transferred to a working palmrest assembly. You can take all parts out to reach the keyboard however Apple decided to rivet the keyboard in place so the keyboard itself can't be replaced.
