Having a Catch Book Study: Part 1 of a 3-Part Series

This week's Note to Self is part 1 of an excerpt from the book study we launched this week. It simply might provide some practical ideas on how to make Servant (Resolved) Leadership part of your culture at work, home, and in social settings. This week it applies some practical thoughts to our work environment.

This week, we start a series that will recognize and honor those that exemplify what it means to be resolved to serve as a leader. We can learn much from others when we take the time to look deeper and understand not just the actions, but the mindset and the heart that must be present to lead like these individuals.

Grace.

Like love, we don’t use this word often enough when we discuss leadership.

As leaders of business associates, players on a team, children, or just our social circle of friends, we hold extreme influence. The way we respond to others in all situations is critical. We have discussed perspective and being self-aware. So now what? Learning to practice and exhibit grace - an honest, forgiving, and kind spirit - is key. Strength is honoring the individual and bringing them close even in times of turbulence. We correct the mistake and love (provide grace) the person.

Self-Awareness

Our ability to objectively and correctly see ourselves is the key to appropriately responding to others, truly in LEADING others. This is the first core element in our Resolved Leader model. Self-awareness is borne from an intentionally humble spirit and willingness to always be in a growth mode; when we are in growth mode we are helping those in our influence grow also.
