Jamhuri Day in Kenya is celebrated on December 12 and marks a major milestone in the nation’s history.

“Jamhuri” is a Swahili word meaning “republic.”
Jamhuri Day commemorates December 12, 1964, the day Kenya officially became a republic, one year after gaining independence from British colonial rule on December 12, 1963.

What Jamhuri Day stands for:

🇰🇪 Kenya’s full self-governance – transition from independence to a republic

🏛️ National sovereignty – Kenyans governing themselves with a Kenyan head of state

🌍 Freedom and unity – honoring the struggle and sacrifices of freedom fighters

✨ National pride and identity – celebrating Kenya’s journey and achievements

It is a public holiday marked by national celebrations, cultural performances, speeches, and reflection on Kenya’s past, present, and future.

This past weekend, I had the joy of connecting with Watiri, the founder of — the brilliant mind behind AfroBINGO!

At Watoto Poa, one of our core pillars is cultural engagement and pride in heritage. AfroBINGO brings this to life by helping us explore our beautiful continent in a fun, interactive, family-friendly way. No boring lectures — just meaningful bonding and exciting learning.

✨ Discover AfroBINGO — the first African bingo board game that makes learning fun!
🎯 Master all African countries and their flags
👨‍👩‍👧 Perfect for kids, families, parties & classrooms
🧠 Builds memory, focus, and cultural awareness
🌍 Celebrates African identity through play

With the holiday season here, this is the perfect addition to your gatherings. I’ve already got mine ready for my family Christmas party! 🎄

And for those who may not be competitive at heart, We Cheza also offers the Coloring Book — African Flags & Countries, available in both home and classroom editions. 🎨
Color as you learn, explore, and celebrate the richness of our continent!

Grab these for your holiday celebrations, or gift them to the young (and young at heart!) in your life. Let’s help our kids and teens learn about Africa in a FUN, meaningful way.
