Hi friends! 👋

With so many new faces passing by here lately, I thought it was a good time to reintroduce myself.

I’m Alysha — wife, mama of two, photographer, hairstylist, and professional wearer of too many hats. If you know me in real life, you know there’s a good chance you’ll find me curled up with a good thriller/mystery book, working on a Cricut project I probably started at 10 PM, doing a puzzle, coloring to unwind, or getting completely invested in a murder mystery documentary. You also know there’s about a 99% chance I have a pair of sunglasses sitting on top of my head, regardless of the weather, season, or whether I actually need them.

I’m a cat person through and through, a Dunkin’s Refresher girl, and someone who genuinely loves creating things—whether that’s a photograph, a hairstyle, a handmade gift, a business idea, or a memory with my family.

Life Through a Shutter was built from my love of people, storytelling, and helping families hold onto the seasons of life that seem to pass far too quickly. At its core, it’s really about connection. The relationships I’ve built with my clients over the years are what keep me showing up day after day. Some of you started as clients and have become friends, and getting to be a small part of your lives through so many milestones is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

When you work with me, you’re not just hiring a photographer. You’re getting someone who is fully invested in your experience from beginning to end. I’ll help with timelines, calm nerves, fix stray hairs, fluff dresses, keep things moving, and celebrate right alongside you. My goal is always to make you feel comfortable enough to be yourself because that’s where the magic happens.

For the next few days, you’ll find me soaking up some sunshine, making memories with friends, and enjoying a much-needed vacation in Cancún.

I’ll be away until Monday, June 15th, so all emails, messages, and vendor applications for this year’s 6th Annual Wedding & Event Expo will be reviewed upon my return.

I want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who made the 1st Annual Northeast Connecticut Wedding Expo such a special event. To the hosts- Mountain Laurel Floral Designs CT Destination Event Co the venue- Hope Lodge Venue, the vendors, and every couple who came through the doors—thank you for your time, your energy, and for being part of something so meaningful.

People often think expos are only about bookings or sales, but for me, they’ve always meant so much more than that.

Yes, meeting engaged couples and hearing all about their wedding plans is always such a highlight… but what truly makes these events special is the connection behind them.

The conversations.
The networking.
The support.
The relationships built within the wedding community.

There is something so powerful about being in a room full of people who all play a part in creating one of the most important days in someone’s life. Florists, DJs, bakers, planners, venues, photographers, beauty professionals, and so many more—all coming together with the same goal: to help couples create something unforgettable.

That sense of community is exactly why I continue to host expos of my own each year. It’s never just about the event itself—it’s about bringing people together, creating opportunities, supporting one another, and building something bigger than ourselves.
