We’ve got LOTS of amazing dogs to introduce you to, so we’re getting started RIGHT NOW! ❤️

And first up… ARE THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE FREE?

August 21–23, we sure do think so! 🥹🐾

Meet Federico, aka Freddie, a handsome boy with a story you won’t forget.

Before coming to WARL, this guy had his very own “Where the Wild Things Are” adventure, roaming the Indian Lake neighborhood of Worcester in a pink harness and proving himself to be quite talented at staying just out of reach. 😂

Eventually, Federico decided to set up camp outside a senior center, where he quickly became a neighborhood celebrity. He charmed the residents into becoming his biggest fans… and, naturally, his biggest snack suppliers. 🥹

Thanks to our friends at Missing Dogs Massachusetts, Freddie was safely tempted into a trap and finally made his way to WARL. ❤️

And these days? He’s trading life on the run for comfy beds, friendly faces, and people who adore him.

Inside the shelter, Federico is calm, relaxed, and happy to hang out with his people. But take him outside and, WATCH OUT! 😂 His Wild Thing spirit comes alive!

💨 He LOVES to zoom.
🐾 He LOVES to wrestle.
🎾 He LOVES to play.
💪 And he is one strong, athletic boy!

Federico is still working on his leash and handling skills, so his new family will need to be patient, committed, and ready to help him learn.

He may enjoy living with another playful dog who matches his energetic style after a successful meet at the shelter. Federico is dog selective and may ultimately be happiest as the only dog in the home. If children will be part of his next chapter, older kids/teens would be the best fit.

But underneath all that Wild Thing energy is a dog with a HUGE heart who is ready for something he hasn’t had yet, a family to call his own. ❤️

And THIS weekend, his adoption fee is $0.

That’s right.

Sunday Pup Date 💙🐾

Okay, Lucas fans… we need to talk about our big guy. 🥹

We gave Lucas a whole week of love and attention, and honestly? We loved every second of it. Our good boy. Our staff favorite. Our volunteer favorite. 💙

We featured him multiple times, shared his story, celebrated him, and, after WAY too long, we finally got to take him on an adventure. Seeing this happy, wiggly boy out enjoying the world with us was everything.

And we are SO happy Lucas got so
much love this week. Truly. 🥰

But here’s the thing about featured pets…
Sometimes we spend a week shouting their names from the rooftops, hoping the universe connects them with their person. And sometimes, that connection happens very shortly after.

People see a Sunday Pup Date and think, “Wait… he’s STILL there?! Maybe that’s my sign.”

It is.

It’s YOUR sign. 💙

Lucas is still waiting for YOU.

Today marks 88 days of Lucas waiting for his turn. He’s getting dangerously close to 100 days. One hundred days of patiently waiting. Lovingly waiting. Wiggling his whole body when someone gives him attention. 🥹

And on our watch? That is WAY too long.

So yes… we had to give this special boy one more promotion during his special week. Our tried and true plea to the world white board sign.

Because guys…

WE CAN’T LET LUCAS TURN INTO A DALMATIAN. 😂🐾

🐾 BIG HEARTS COME IN LITTLE PACKAGES! 🐾

A HUGE thank you to animal lovers Lena and Juliana for donating an incredible $125 to the animals at WARL! ❤️🐶🐱

These two amazing girls got creative and made their very own homemade slime, then donated the money they earned from their sales to help animals in need. How AMAZING is that?! 🥹💗

We absolutely LOVE seeing the next generation of animal lovers learning that even the smallest act of kindness can make a BIG difference. 🌎🐾

Lena and Juliana, THANK YOU for thinking of the animals and choosing to give back. Because of your generosity, we can continue to say YES when an animal needs us most.

You girls are proof that kindness has no age limit. 💕🐾
