Heri za Kwanzaa (Happy Kwanzaa) community! ❤️🖤💚 Today is the first day of Kwanzaa! We are so grateful and excited to learn and share about Kwanzaa with everyone again this year. Whether you have celebrated this holiday for years or you are new to what it's all about, there is something beautiful in store for anyone who embraces the Nguzo Saba and the beauty of their Afrikan heritage! 🪘
Kwanzaa is a time for self-reflection, connection to others, family, community, and culture. We hope the next seven days (and every day) you will embrace Kwanzaa and all it means for our community and go into the new year with a vision for peace, justice, unity, and love.
Keep an eye on our social media for upcoming Kwanzaa events this week!

As holiday times approach, we have been preparing for one of our favorite times of the year... KWANZAA! Kwanzaa is a pan-Afrikan holiday that encourages those across the diaspora to reconnect with their family, community, and culture!
This year, we will be hosting our annual Community Kwanzaa Celebration in person for the first time since the pandemic. Community members are invited to join us on Friday, December 30th, 2022 from 5 pm to 8 pm to enjoy performers, vendors, food, and edutainment! Bringing a dish for our communal karamu (feast) is helpful but not required! All are welcome to join us (whether this is your first year learning about/celebrating Kwanzaa or you are a seasoned celebrator!)
In addition, we will have a combination of virtual and in-person events every day of Kwanzaa (from December 26th to January 1st). Check out our schedule of events for each day of Kwanzaa and join us as you are able! (A loving reminder that you can celebrate Kwanzaa and Christmas if you so choose)! Feel free to send us a message on messenger or email [email protected] with questions or for more information!
We are looking forward to celebrating Kwanzaa with our community and closing out the new year honoring the Nguzo Saba (7 Principles of Kwanzaa) - Umoja/Unity, Kujichagulia/Self-Determination, Ujima/Collective Work & Responsibility, Ujamaa/Cooperative Economics, Nia/Purpose, Kuumba/Creativity, Imani/Faith.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. On this Giving Tuesday, we invite those who are able to donate to The Village Worcester!
The Village was created in September 2020 after the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and too many other Black folks across the country. It is an Afrocentric cultural, learning, and healing center. While everyone is welcome in our space, our focus is on the Black community. The five pillars of The Village are 1) racial & social justice, 2) learning, 3) creativity, 4) community, and 5) healing. We are striving to create a multi-generational space that encourages sharing, growth, love, and peace for all. We currently provide commercial and meeting spaces to 11 non-profit organizations, host programs that celebrate our culture, and provide the community the opportunity to explore different holistic healing in our center with Black & POC practitioners.
Ultimately, The Village is a space for the community, especially Black folks, to meet others, learn, grow, and heal. We have met some amazing since opening our doors and are looking forward to meeting many more. With your support, we can ensure this space continues doing important work for our community! Many thanks in advance and you and yours are always welcome at The Village!
