This is to discuss how we can use the momentum of the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations to fuel general assemblies in our own city. We are the 99%.
We are a group of people inspired into action by Occupy Wall St and the Occupy movement. We seek to act in solidarity with Wall Street and other occupations across the country as part of the 99%. Lending our voices and actions to the uproar of protest against corporatocracy, austerity measures in which our livelihoods balance the budget, and the structural injustices fueled by banks and government
. Our city is the second largest in New England. For decades it has suffered from post-industrial decline and neglect. We are sick of Hollywood directors coming here to film post-apocalyptic movies. Sick of brown fields and unpaved streets. Sick of foreclosure tearing our worlds apart, and MCAS sealing the fate of our youth. Worcester is tired of being invisible. Let our voices and actions be heard! By creating general assemblies we hope to act in solidarity with cities and towns across the nation, but also to identify and directly act upon the issues Worcester faces as a city in crisis. Join in the global fight for social justice! Please Note: We are posting submissions from individuals, whose views do not necessarily reflect those of Occupy Worcester as a whole. We feel it is important to hear individual voices and the concerns of a variety of groups, however we do not wish to promote or associate with any particular political parties or philosophies. Our goal is to unite the 99%, by remaining inclusive and ensuring everyone has a chance to speak their truth. In solidarity,
The 99% of Central MA
