‼️ SCAM ALERT - PLEASE READ ‼️

These mailings are reportedly hitting mailboxes all across the area. To be clear these notices are FAKE and the scammers are getting more and more creative.

The state will never mail you a notice like this with a QR code and offer a payment option under threat of license suspension or similar action against you. This is a scam and some people have fallen for it.

Here's how it actually works...if you're ever issued a citation for a traffic violation you will receive the citation from the officer roadside. You then have 20 days to pay (option 1 on the bottom of the citation) or dispute the citation (option 2 on the bottom of the citation). It is everyone's right to dispute a citation through the court having jurisdiction. If you select option 2 to dispute the citation, you must do so within 20 calendar days and doing so will schedule you for a clerk magistrate hearing...IN PERSON. If you're found "responsible" for the citation at the clerk magistrate hearing you can opt to further appeal the citation to a judge...ALSO IN PERSON.

The state DOES NOT send violators a payment form via mail or email, full stop. Don't be a victim. The more you know!
