What an incredible morning celebrating the people and organizations who make our community stronger every single day. From our dedicated WCAC team to our outstanding award recipients — United Way of Central Massachusetts, United Way of South Central MA, Ricema, the Center for Health Impact, Nicole Amoako-Atta, and Congressman Jim McGovern — this event was a true reminder of why we do what we do. 💙

Head Start isn't just a preschool — it's a lifeline for the whole family. 💛

This year, Worcester Community Action Council's center-based Head Start program served 175 children in early education and care, but the impact goes so much further than the classroom.

Through wraparound services, teachers, family advocates, and specialists, we walked alongside families through housing challenges, language barriers, IEP meetings, and so much more. We supported 34 children with IEPs this year, attending evaluations, advocating at meetings, and standing side by side with parents every step of the way.

And then there are moments like this: a little girl who struggled so deeply with confidence that she was diagnosed with selective mutism, who by the end of the year stood up in front of a room full of parents and sang out loud. Her mom was in the crowd in tears. That's Head Start.
