HALL COUNTY TO BREAK GROUND ON NEW EAST HALL LIBRARY
Hall County Government, alongside the Hall County Library System, will break ground on the new East Hall Library on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the East Hall Community Center, located at 3911 P Davison Road in Gainesville.
“We have been working on this project for the last several years, so it is exciting to finally be at the point where we are ready to start construction,” Director of Parks and Community Services Brent Holloway said. “Not only will this project serve as an exciting addition to Hall County Parks and Leisure, but it will also serve as an expansion of our services and amenities to the East Hall community through the Hall County Library System.”
The new library component will add approximately 9,300 square feet of space to the back side of the community center, adjacent to the tennis courts. Features will include:
• Thousands of books
• High-speed internet/Wi-Fi
• Ample public computers
• Makerspace
• Podcast Studio
• Library of Things
• Study rooms & program space
• Children and teens areas
• Wraparound porch
“The former East Hall Library closed in 2011 following budget cuts that happened after the 2008 recession,” Hall County Library System Director Lisa MacKinney said. “So, the citizens in this area of the County have needed a public space with these types of amenities for a long time, especially with the growth this area has seen following the relocation of Lanier Technical College, and we are excited to finally be able to fill that need in our community.”
The total budget for the East Hall Library project is approximately $4.7 million, with $3 million funded by a state grant through the Georgia Public Library Service and $1.7 million funded by the SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) VIII program.
The expected completion date is late fall 2026; however, delays in the construction process could affect the estimated completion date.
For questions about the project, please contact Hall County Library System Director Lisa MacKinney at [email protected] or 770-532-3311.

#6 We're counting down the "Top 10" projects SPLOST has left in Cobb County. Voters are being asked to renew Cobb’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for another six years. This one percent tax allows the county to build projects and make capital improvements involving parks, transportation, public safety, libraries, senior centers and other Cobb and city facilities. This is NOT a new tax! Visit www.CobbSPLOST2022.org to learn more about it.
