A question we get asked all the time...
Do I need to be in the U.S. to start the process?
No. Many immigration processes can begin while an individual is outside the United States, depending on the visa type and circumstances.

Church leadership can feel complex, but you don't have to navigate it alone. We are honored to have our own Janet Forney speaking at The Church Network Conference this July 14–16, where she'll be discussing religious worker immigration options and how churches, ministries, and faith-based organizations can successfully bring qualified pastors, teachers, and other ministry workers to the United States.
Whether you're actively hiring or simply planning for the future, understanding the available immigration pathways can make all the difference in building a strong and sustainable ministry team.
If you're attending the conference, Janet would love to connect, answer your questions, and talk about how Foster Immigration helps ministries navigate the immigration process with confidence.
We look forward to seeing you in July!

Quick message & update on the 5/21 USCIS AOS Memo:
**Note that since its release, we’ve actually seen a sharp INCREASE in the pace of Employment Based Green Card processing locally (which is excellent to see & report), with much good news & many good decisions coming our way across a short time frame since 5/21. Specifically, since that date, we’ve gotten 2 Green Cards by mail, and 2 other simple requests just for final medicals to be provided. On another note, we have an interview date now to hopefully wrap that one up as well in late-June. So, that’s movement on 5 whole cases in our small, tiny practice just since Memorial Day (and all of it good stuff to see). That’s remarkably positive news to report, enabling the conclusion this latest example of political theatre from our government in May could well be all smoke & no fire, at least in the context of standard & traditional cases. Certainly, that’s what our early results show & that’s what we want everyone to know now.
So please stay the course, keep grinding, and you’ll get there! Immigration is ubiquitous.

Celebrating another anniversary milestone in the office this week, as Ashley completes year one with our firm as a paralegal. In that time, Ashley has helped a ton of different families, foreign workers & US businesses work on shaping American Dreams in case areas that include US citizenship, spouse marriage cases, religious workers, all kinds of professional work visas & a high number of Green Card cases through jobs. We’re delighted that both we and our clients get to work with Ashley each & every week in Woburn. A major immigration change affecting F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors is moving closer to implementation, and the business impact could be significant. DHS is considering replacing the long-standing “Duration of Status” framework with fixed expiration dates for certain visa holders, creating more filings, stricter tracking requirements, and less flexibility for maintaining valid status and work authorization.

For employers that rely on international talent through CPT, OPT, STEM OPT, internship, trainee, and exchange visitor programs, the ripple effects could include onboarding delays, work authorization interruptions, and increased I-9 compliance exposure. Businesses should begin evaluating whether their onboarding, work authorization tracking, and compliance procedures are equipped to handle increased scrutiny and tighter filing timelines. Our team is actively helping employers assess potential compliance gaps, strengthen internal tracking procedures, and prepare for possible disruptions before new rules take effect.
