Last Night after the show a customer in the lobby said my favorite part was all the birds.
These aren't just part of the show—they're part of our family. ❤️🕊️
I got my very first White Java dove from my Aunt Betty when I was 12 or 13 years old. That one special gift sparked a lifelong love of working with these beautiful birds, and I've been featuring doves in my magic show ever since.
Our doves are much-loved pets with a wonderful home, and we spend time with them every single day. They aren't props—they're cherished members of our family.
It's amazing to watch the audience's reaction when they appear. For so many guests, especially children, our White Java doves become one of the most memorable moments of the show.
After all these years, they still bring a sense of wonder that reminds us why we fell in love with magic in the first place. We're so grateful they continue to be such a special part of the Rick Wilcox Magic Theater experience. 🕊️✨

For more than 30 years, we've been blessed to share two of our greatest passions—life together and the art of magic.

As husband and wife, we've spent decades creating moments of wonder, laughter, and unforgettable memories for families from around the world. What began as a lifelong love of magic has grown into one of Wisconsin's premier family entertainment destinations, and we never take for granted the privilege of welcoming audiences into our theater.

Along the way, we've been humbled to receive incredible honors, including the prestigious Milbourne Christopher Award recognizing us among the Top Illusionists in the United States, as well as Congressional Recognition for our contributions to the arts and our commitment to family entertainment.

People often ask what I love most about performing magic.
Is it the laugh?
The gasp?
The standing ovation?
The truth is, it's all of them.
A laugh tells me people are relaxed and having fun.
A gasp tells me they've just experienced the impossible.
But the moment I live for most is something a little different.
It's that brief silence right before the applause.
That split second when an audience is completely present—when they've stopped trying to figure it out, stopped talking, stopped thinking about everything else in their day—and they're simply experiencing the moment.
That's what I'm chasing every night.
Magic isn't just about fooling people. It's about creating an experience. One where laughter, wonder, and emotion all come together for a few unforgettable moments.
That's why I care so much about the details. The staging. The lighting. The timing. The stories. The pauses.
Because the question isn't, "Did the trick work?"
The question is, "Did the moment land?"
After all these years, I'm still learning, still refining, still searching for better ways to create that feeling.
